Have a holly jolly Christmas it's the best time of the year
I don't know if there'll be snow but have a cup of cheer
Have a holly jolly Christmas and when you walk down the street
Say hello to friends you know and everyone you meet
Oh ho the mistletoe hung where you can see
Somebody waits for you kiss her once for me
Have a holly jolly Christmas and in case you didn't hear
Oh by golly have a holly jolly Christmas this year
[ fiddle - guitar ]
Have a holly jolly Christmas...
Oh by golly have a holly jolly Christmas this year

Growing up I came to associate xmas with family tragedy.

Best xmas I've ever had was spent in a dive bar in Greenwich Village with other similarly Grinchish and/or marginalized folks. Beautiful, fond memories of that evening. Especially since, in the spirits of xmas, the credit card machine mysteriously broke down at about 11:00 and subsequent pitchers and doubleshots of Makers were free.

Well, both versions are kind of catchy. Any chance of publication.

What if there was a mix-up in ghostland, and Hamlet's ghost went to see Scrooge, and Marley's ghost went to see Hamlet?

Methinks both tales would be greatly improved.

My childhood was the one time of year my deeply reserved Mom displayed how much she wanted to express her love. She had no money, most of the time, but her efforts were a marvel to behold.
