How will you be spending Christmas day?

Tell us about it!

I'm interested.

You can be as gooey & sentimental as you like about your plans, you can cry on our collective shoulder about what's in store for you, you can ask for advice on how to survive it .... or you can tell us about what you'll be doing instead of celebrating! (Like reading a good book in bed, perhaps?)

I have a hunch that not everyone here has a "traditional" Christmas day planned.

Though it's perfectly OK if that's what you are doing! Wink

I suspect me and the missus will be at my daughter's home. She lives in Houston. Probably be there for dinner. Then we will be home to spend the rest of the time together, alone.

OK. I'll go first, if you like:

Some of you will know (from another thread here) that my mother was placed in an aged care facility earlier in the year. And that "relations" with my sister (who took "liberties" with her finances while they lived together for a while) are somewhat strained ....

So I've been wondering how the hell we "celebrate" this time? Confused

Well it turns out that the facility holds an Christmas dinner/lunch each year & that each person there can have a maximum of two guests attending. So (being one of the two. My sister will not be attending.) I think I have a rather unusual Christmas day in store! For starters, it'll involve 5+ hours of travel there & back (it's in country Victoria). Apart from that, I have an open mind on what to expect. I think that may be the best way to go! Wink

@msolga,
Hey, Olga - that sounds really interesting. Shame you have to travel so far on the day, though.

@OGIONIK,
Not at all! I wrote an interesting minutely detailed account, Og! Wink

...Um, how do the rest of your family feel about you avoiding them over Christmas? Or perhaps they don't know yet?

@Endymion,
I think "full of surprises - be prepared for anything" might be a more accurate description, Endy! Wink

And you?

Someone in the UK, please enlighten me:

Do all of you really watch the queen's TV address after Christmas lunch? We here (in Oz) have been led to believe that this is so. Wink

Yep. I'll have already celebrated with family and I'll get double pay that day.
