@Endymion,
There are a lot of wonderful lentil recipes from different cultures. I do love them.

Truthfully, love them best sort of Russian style with some double-smoked sausage, but there are some really excellent Indian lentil recipes that are veggie.

Still, naughty fella! (kidding, I'm not upset with you, but I was a bit worried)

Yeah - i love garlicy Indian dahls with chapatis
Actually, i can't remember the last time i ate a really good dahl - London a few years ago, i think.
At the moment i'm mostly eating plain rice and steamed veg/fish
i've been doing a lot of steaming recently (it warms up the place)

Can't talk about Nick Drake on the Friendly Freaks Thread without adding
'Parasite'

Parasite

Lifting the mask from from a local clown
Feeling down like him
Seeing the light in a station bar
And travelling far in sin
Sailing downstairs to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
And hearing the trial of the people there
Whos to care if they lose.
And take a look you may see me on the ground
For I am the parasite of this town.

Dancing a jig in a church with chimes
A sign of the times today
And hearing no bell from a steeple tall
People all in dismay
Falling so far on a silver spoon
Making the moon for fun
And changing a rope for a size too small
People all get hung.
Take a look and see me coming through
For I am the parasite who travels two by two.

When lifting the mask from a local clown
And feeling down like him
And Im seeing the light in a station bar
And travelling far in sin
And Im sailing downstair to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
And hearing the trials of the people there
Whos to care if they lose.
And take a look you may see me on the ground
For I am the parasite of this town.
And take a look you may see me in the dirt
For I am the parasite who hangs from your skirt.

i always thought learning to touch type would be a bonus (and i'm just, naturally starting to do it)-- but damn me if i don't keep looking up after about two hundred words to discover i haven't actually got any of it because i forgot to click off of itunes or something! Rolling Eyes

thanks both for the chat
i'm going to go and make myself some tea now - outside it's white with snow
- very peaceful - but the sky looks mean..

if that doesn't make much sense- don't be surprised! Its badly written

(i don't like to look at the screen at all when i'm writing...unless i stop to edit
I'm either looking at the keyboard or elsewhere)

hey - i should be tired, but i'm not.what i've really been thinking about is existence, life, reality, purpose, you know, the unknown. stuff i can't talk about much because i don't have the words. (I tried looking at a few philosophy threads but to be honest, quite often i couldn't understand much of what they were saying).

I'd like to talk about stuff, but what's the point? It gets so ******* vicious on so many subjects.
Once i had to use the frigging dictionary to look up a string of insults directed at me! A kind of double blow! ha hah

i never was much into school - except for football (that's European football, of course - there's no running off with the ball over here!)

if anyone has anything to add about Nick Drake - or anything else, i'd be glad to hear it

cheers
Endy

Glad you're still writing your lines.

You draw/sketch don't you?
Trees? (don't know if i'm remembering that right)

I 'm drawn to trees
Good job really, seeing as i'm totally surrounded by them here!

Tree

If i could see
With your eyes
through the darkness
and speak with your wisdom
the words
if i could hear
with your great understanding
all that i've ever heard
if i could feel with your skin
letting them in
to my solid oak heart
if i could stand on my own
and never feel alone
reaching out my arms
if i were a tree
and nothing like me
if i were a tree
and nobody

@djjd62,

Hey, thanks djjd62

have a good one

i've been listening to a lot of reggae - following Bob's birthday.
God knows what he would make of the world today.

War! /No More Trouble

Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.

That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a mans skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.

That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in angola,
In mozambique,
South africa
Sub-human bondage
Have been toppled,
Utterly destroyed -
Well, everywhere is war -
Me say war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south -
War - war -
Rumours of war.
And until that day,
The african continent
Will not know peace,
We africans will fight - we find it necessary -
And we know we shall win
As we are confident
In the victory

Of good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah! /fadeout/
