I don't think I can

That Child

Am I meant to forget his face?
Is that it?

Keep his sorrow in its place
Is that it?

Am I meant to feel no shame?

Am I meant to ignore his pain?

Am I meant to forget all blame?
Is that it?

Am I meant to overlook his tears?

Sit in front of the box
and sup a few beers?

Am I meant to forget who I am?

What does it take
to forget that child?

because I don't think I can

I Don't think I Can

I don't think I can
you know, take much more
of this fascist war
I read what people are saying
but well, I've heard it all before

Yeah, the war on Iraq is a major disgrace
A crime against the whole human race
And I'm sick of hearing dumb ass excuses
for breaking the law
Unless it ends soon
I know for sure
I can't take much more

I don't think I can
you know, take much more
It's not just what's been done
but that it's left to go on
and on
and on
And it's wrong

Yeah, I've said it
and the words are raw
Yeah, I've felt it
too many times before
I can't take anymore
I can't take anymore

I can't take anymore
of war

The Last Word

Seasons stolen fade as years pass by
A million graves to hide forgotten lies
Trapped in wars of vengeful stupidity
Hear the last ditched cries of the broken
Token dignity
So hangs the tortured, crucified man
Of modern happiness blessed by cultured hands
That crack the youthful windpipe of expression
Listen...
Beaten in the street
Democratic love
Bleak gravestones, righteous, incomplete
I wander from their light as sorrow sings
Of faces aged and newly slaughtered
Victims of our greed
I wander through the night as tomorrow dreams
Of the last word spoken from the lips of peace
