By saying NOTHING u allow for a UNIVERSE of uncertainty, doubt and ambiguity.
Additionally, I believe that I asked u questions in my post.

The English are known for being civilized, which includes being POLITE.

I CAN be charitable and gentle.

I don t need to be severe
and I will not be, if u simply answer my points
(which took a WHILE to compile) in a forthright manner.
When a citizen of this forum (or any) takes the time
to answer another contributor at length, that is an honor,
a showing of respect, to the person whose post is being addressed.

Ignoring such a responsive post can be and might be considered a personal offense
by the person whose post is ignored.

I don 't understand.
Does that mean that u fail to reply
to posts that have been addressed to u ?

Offhand, I was under the impression
that u have been diligent in rendering responses. Yes ?

David

P.S.:
If u have not already done so,
I 'd appreciate a reply to my post of last nite
qua fonetic spelling, as I was very tired when I typed it,
and I was uncertain of how much sense I was making.

I 'd like to know what u think of it; good, bad or indifferent.

Referring to yesterdays post I agree that Setanta is best ignored. I also agree with fonetic writng. But I dont use it myself. It is 2 teenage.
I am sure your abrasive manner hides a gentle soul. Ineffable anathema is poetry. Using the word egregious shows you have a huge
vocabulary

Silence fails to answer
the host of questions that I addressed to u
in my longer (earlier) of the 2 posts.

@OmSigDAVID,
She means Dave that she agreed with your general thrust. It might be because of you mentioning something that gave off an odour of lucre. I can't remember what it was exactly but I noticed it. I notice that sort of thing quite a bit. And there's a fair lot to notice.

And of course your being unattached. I imagine she has read Jane Austen.

Don't forget she has an IQ of 160. Ladies Branch.

Well you wouldn't would you?

Would you like me to look back so that I can jog your memory?

It was fairly well disguised I'll admit in the male IQ way of seeing things but to a lady it would have shone like a flashing beacon on a dark night.

Spendius - that is your CLUE, man, take the lady out on a damn date, as in for dinner to a hotel restaurant. Book a suite for the night at the same hotel, too - incidentally freeing our website from this pestilential stalker. Please. She's after YOU, Spendi, you lucky man, so get moving!

I meant that a large number of my posts have not been responded to.

As you know Dave I did respond. I don't dig it. I can't see any particular advantage and unless it was managed very carefully it can easily look inconsistent and thus an affectation. It would be a disadvantage to the printing profession and editors as they would need more ideas to fill up the saved space. It doesn't really annoy me. I go in pubs and it's no good being easily annoyed if you do that.

What about words. Think of the words that would be saved if one said "how's about you and me Babe having an afternoon in my king-size four-poster?"

Some guys take months over that. Some do it quicker too. If one goes all out for efficiency it would ruin most budding friendships I feel.

And if you were tired you must have been seeing to your clients and not inexpensively. In short- your piling it up.

That said by a lady in the pub with some gestural emphasis on "huge" would certainly, once upon a time, in the days when I was too easily lured into the jaws of doom, have made my ears prick up.

Aw-shucks HS. But some on here think she is a male person. I couldn't possibly risk anything like that in the event they are right and I'm not as good at literary detection as I thought.

And she's from Yorkshire. They are a handful from there you know. And they talk funny.

@spendius,
Spendius...you are over-reacting once again.

Read my post again...and you will see that you are wrong on so many of the charges you made in that angry tirade you last posted.

The point of the "intelligent" remark was to highlight that "great intelligence" and some of the petty, cutting remarks obviously made to prod people into responding in kind...so you can then fault them for making petty, cutting remarks...holds.

Obviously, most of the charges you are making against Americans in this thread and so many others is merely projection.

Doesn't make you a bad person.

I laugh the stuff off.

I'd still love the chance to have a beer with you...and sit an shoot the breeze about things that don't send you off on a tear...assuming there are such things.

I think you are being a bit premature.

I hardy think you've said anything to cause her to flee.
She seems made of sterner stuff than that.

I was not trying to drive her away.
I only asked her a few questions.

U raise an interesting point, Spendius.

We have no way of knowing who is actually posting,
unless we meet in the real world.
For all we know, someone who implies (passively, by lack of denial)
being a 14 year old girl, can in fact be an ugly old man,
with a twisted brain who is amusing himself at our expense.
