Part of my job is to shave milliseconds from messages sent between millions of embedded sensors and edge servers. Every byte counts. We strive to use fewer resources. Asking for more is admitting defeat.
The added mass of that glass increases ttl (time to lips) by up to 0.02%, not to mention the extra space taken means more diswasher loads per million uses.
Multiply that over 600 million glasses of water a day, that is a severe performance cost.
