I bought one of those nasty machines for my daughter. She had used one in school and wanted to sew her own cosplay costume. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I said to myself "I am an engineer... how hard can it be".

Getting that f*#@!ing blue line to stay between the flux capacitor and the horn of Gondor caused the rest of my hair to fall out. And then you have to get this loop to magically appear out of the quaffle..... arggh.

We do Anime con every year. The first year she made a cloak.. I think it was for a character from Inyuasha. It turned out pretty well (after I figured out how to get that damn machine threaded).

She is doing some pretty cool stuff now.

The Kid does lots of Cosplay at conventions, last one he went as the Coon from Southpark.

He makes all, (90%) of his costume, masks and false nails etc. are bought.

There's a thread on one of the listservs I'm on for a vendor we use that's giving examples of coder humour in software.

This was a cute way of pointing out what a PITA Internet Explorer is when coding html, I can smell the frustration.

Not great quality, but basically the div tag's CSS class is 'stupid_ie_div'

My skills in the written Japanese language is very limited, so there's no worry. However, it really helped when we visited Japan and China by understanding some simple words like "entrance, exit, women, and men." I can still write my name in Chinese (Japanese) calligraphy.
