That doesn't mean you're dense it means you don't know the references. if you've not watched the film Airplane you wouldn't have got the joke. Watching Airplane may help you get the joke but it won't make you any smarter.

No! Geek humor should be pedantically correct.

Velocity is a vector quantity. Distance is a scalar (meaning that distance over time is a scalar value and not velocity).

A velociraptor actually = displacementaraptor/time

(Yes, the denominator should be time... not timeraptor. If you divide displacementaraptor by timeraptor... the raptors cancel out).
