Of all days, last night at dinner Mo askes me how long Mr. B and I have been married. I start calculating..... I was 29, now I'm 48...... so 19 year.

I further calculate.... we were married on November 4.... today is November 4.... today is our 19th anniversary!

Mr B is putting together his plate in the kitchen and he stops cold.

"Did you remember?"

"Just now I did." says I.

We looked at each other and laughed.

I forgot our anniversary once, about 5 years into our marriage and he was so upset that I have never forgotten again. He has never forgotten until last night.

Have you ever forgotten your anniversary?

What happened?

@boomerang,
Boom, mine was Dec. 7.

(made it easy, with vets in the family, and rather appropriate, in hindsight...)

For you and Mr Boomer

@boomerang,
Good story, Boom. Nice to read something non-political on this site right about now.

Ours is Nov 1, pretty easy to remember being that it is the day after Halloween, and often we are up past midnight anyway watching scary movies.

We both forgot our 8th or 9th...don't remember which one...but it was uneventful, nobody was shot or stabbed, which is the usual custum for such an affront in SE MO.

@boomerang,
For the 7th or 8th year in a row, I am trying to recalibrate Set's birthday. I think it should be November 6th. He keeps telling me he wants to keep it at November 8th.

Someone remind me, eh.

I have never forgotten our anniversary.
The fact that I am alive to type this testifies to it.

My forgetting our anniversary that year was actually a good thing. It evened things up.

Mr. B and I had been together for 6 or 7 years before we realized that getting married would be a good idea. That was, I think, a Tuesday so we decided to get married the following Saturday.

We called a judge we knew, and a few friends. Took the day off work. Got married. In the living room of our crappy rental house. Then we went out and ate Vietnamese food at our favorite restaurant.

That night some old friends of his called to invite him hunting at the next day's crack of dawn. To assert the fact that he was still his own man, he accepted.

I didn't really care, other than the fact that I think hunting is kind of stupid.

It gave me something to dangle over his head.

Until I forgot our anniversary and he brought me something lovely.

The fact that we laughed last night makes me think the next 19 years will be fun.

I agree.

When we decided to get married I picked May and Mr B picked the 5th so that he could forever tie it to Cinco de Mayo.

Happy Anniversary, boomer.

@JPB,
We picked Memorial Day weekend. Easy to remember but not as easy as my folks'. They were married on Christmas Day.

Hey, we don't do anything else on Xmas so why not toast Mom and Dad?

Happy anniversary, Boom and Mr. B.
