I thought this idea was TOTALLY NEW on anything I've written before.

It was well covered at the time a Cal. judge tried to over-rule Prop 8. The joyous glee led to no "marriages" however.

I don't think any of you conceive of what I am or have been through.

I LOVE hetoros too... But i have a mission and it is not finished. Not nearly...

It does not include lowering standards to less. It has to do with "marriage", life long love and commitment...

I am the lover...

@CoastalRat,
You just haven't been keeping up with all the news. Here's one link that explains most of the christian complaints against homosexual marriage.

It probably makes a lot of sense to people like you.

http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2004/februaryweb-only/2-16-41.0.html

It degrades the marriage between and man and a women
It destroys the family unit
Children in same sex households harms children
Homosexual marriage is "morally wrong"

* It gives homosexual couples equal protections and benefits under the laws
* It advances equality, and removes discriminatory practices "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL."
* How does it "degrade the marriage between a man and a woman?"
* How does it "destroy the family unit?"
* Where is proof that children in same sex households are more harmful than in heterosexual households?
* What makes it "morally wrong?"
* Why is commitment by two people of the same sex in love wrong?
* Who determines other people's love as wrong?

I just don't "get it"; maybe somebody can enlighten me.

@RexRed,
Including gay 'rights' in the same paragraph with civil rights, womens' suffrage, and abolition of slavery serves only to demean their value.

That the entire world may plunge headlong into debauchery does not change the definition of debauchery.

@neologist,
How does it demean their value? Your value, perhaps.
Do you understand the words "equality for all?"

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/news/chick-fil-president-denounces-supreme-court-rulings-gay-154004419.html

Dan Cathy, the president of ChikAFil says the SC abandoned our forefather's wisdom of the "cornerstone of our society."

He just can't see his own bigotry and ignorance.
Quote:
"Cornerstone of our society."
What in hell does that mean? He's the president of a company? geeesh!

They just want to intrude into other people's happiness? What's with all these jokers? They are christians and bigots. I don't understand; somebody must enlighten me.

@cicerone imposter,
He possibly means that Christianity is the keystone of our society and choosing cornerstone as understatement.

I only said possibly because I don't wish to second guess the guy. He might be what you say for all I know.

And if he is what you say it makes not the slightest difference to whether Christianity is the keystone of our society because it is. One mouth is nothing to that.

It is a constant indulgence, a free pass, to use some self-appointed spokesperson for Christianity as a tool to dig out the foundations of our culture's religion. I have little doubt you have a large number to choose from and are good at picking the right one for every occasion.

What is the position on the subject of the thread in Japan which, I gather, is your own cultural heritage?

@cicerone imposter,
I have no problem with 2 men, brother and sister, 2 women, 2 cousins, or any 2 humans living together and enjoying some document allowing them every privilege currently reserved for married persons. Denying them these rights seems unfair and absurd. What I take exception to is hijacking the word 'marriage' and applying it to a lifestyle that, at best, is fraught with difficulty and, at worst, is downright unhealthy.

@neologist,
But they hijacked another word neo, to their eternal shame. A word you will never see me use in this context. The literature professors were silent wanting a quiet life.

Their success went to their heads. They now hijack any word that it suits them to. Discrimination, for example. Equality. Honeymoon. Lover, (the opposite of which is "mistress"--Rex's squeeze). Benefits for daylight robbery. Highwaymen with words rather than pistols and no hanging if caught.

A snowstorm in effect and embraced by Media for obvious reasoms.

They have yet to see the backlash which they have invited.

@spendius,
I can see our posts are not popular, Spendi. (I voted yours back up to 1, as if it makes a difference.)

One problem I see is the insufficiency of the English language to define love, whereas the Greeks have four words. Erotic love, 'eros', is never mentioned in the Bible. 'Storge', the love of parents for children, and 'philia', brotherly love, are mentioned infrequently. Most often, the Bible refers to 'agape', or principled love, the kind of love I can safely profess towards Rex without feeling creepy. It's the love God shows to us and requires of us for Him and for our neighbors.

So, if am discriminating or not treating gays equally, I can assure you I have love for them; and my discrimination is an expression of that love.

As a neologist, I propose the new word 'mastress' be incorporated into our vocabulary. You know what it means, I'm sure.

Unfortunately for the Christians who laid the so called foundations... When enough of their offsprings start to think for themselves.. They find the foundations are built on hot air.

@neologist,
It's against the law to marry direct relatives. But christians like you like to mention the fact that after homosexual marriage, humans will start marrying animals.

God must be happy with your ignorance.
