Whatever put such an idea into your head out of what I said?

It was because of the person who said it. Who else would have used such an extreme example "Jodi Arias" to compare a happy family to?

These are cute. But what point do they make? Sure, we know the Catholic church distorts the truth for their own designs; but don't forget the Bible taught the world was round over 2000 years earlier. You have the Bible. Look up Isaiah 40:22.

I think that both Rex and you are correct. The bible did see the earth as being a circle in some places of it and circles are indeed round. In other places it describes the earth as having four corners if I am not mistaken.

My question would be, "has the bible ever claimed the earth as being shaped like a sphere?

From what I understand there was a Hebrew word for sphere.

You're even stupider than I thought rl. I was not making any such comparison.

I only chose Jodi Arias because the picture of her with her victim in happier times is recent in the memory and serves the purpose of ascertaining the value of a photograph. I'm sure many other photographs would have served instead.

Politicians kiss babies. Mr Obarmy hugs people in wretchedness and supplies the appropriate words which his PR machine ensures we all see, And then flies back to his dinner.

That you deduce from the photograph Rex thought fit to post that we were being shown a happy family suggests that you are as far from reasoning logic as ever you were.

Your use of the expression "Who else would have used such an extreme example..." is evidence of an extremely sheltered life.

The photograph tells us nothing about the prospects of that kid. Nor does the spiel that accompanied it.

Your willful distortion of what I said is a common feature in your posts and if such a procedure is carried over into your personal life I cannot imagine anybody thinking other that ill of it.

I made a perfectly understandable point about a photograph and you turn it into a sneaky, oily, grease-ball and shifty slur which is as underhanded as it is deniable.

And you slip-slide out of answering the point as is usual.

Looks like I need to build a tornado shelter because God has been using a lot of them lately to kill humans, birds, animals, plants and every thing else. Well at least he is not discriminating when it comes to things being evil. I wonder what the trees did wrong.
You are quick to blame the Creator for the world's harmful events. Is it to dismiss the possibility of any obligation you may have to him? How convenient! Now you can decide for yourself what is good and what is bad. Just be sure to keep in mind who offered that choice in Genesis chapter 3. Could he be the god who is responsible for all the atrocities we have endured for thousands of years? Join him if you wish.

BTW, is your house built with lumber from trees? I wonder what those trees did wrong.

@neologist,
You ask me a question neo. Is it rhetorical?

Have you any settled view based on that photograph?

I could have been a great deal harsher on it than I chose to be.

The use of the photo is an insult to the members of A2K.

Let me guess, You have an image in your mind that would show what a happy family would look like? Would it include a man in a long dark robe?

I am not sure what they did wrong You would have to ask God, I used the lumber that was the result of a hurricane to build my house.

@spendius,
It is clear that both RR and RL have issues with the idea that the one who created them might know what is best. They will present any argument, no matter how spurious, to salve the conscience they wish to ignore.

If I didn't like them so much, I would call them names.

How can you like people who continually insult the intelligence of members of A2K and refuse to mend their ways?

Rex, I know, has a good heart.
I don't know RL as well; but he seems to be just conflicted.

Neologist, "Rex and I are very different in many ways but I do think that we are able to share empathic distress about many things. I at least hope so. It would be nice to see Rex in other threads that help to resolve issue of civil rights other than in just homosexual threads.
I am only saying that it would make me happy but Rex is not in debt to me or others who suffer injustice brought onto them by the ignorance of others. It's an empathic response that makes many of us rush to the aid of others being abused by members of society.

I think Rex is closer to you when it comes to God neologist, He believes that there is a creator and my mother shares the same belief as him. I care about the both of them even though I do not share their views.

Rather than love your enemies you would say hateful things to them?

@reasoning logic,
You really don't discern tongue in cheek, do you?

Calling the union of homosexuals 'marriage' is the term I object to on secular grounds, because it puts the stamp of authenticity on a lifestyle that, at best, is fraught with difficulty. This is a wrong message to send to teenagers, who we should all remember from experience, don't know their elbows from holes in the ground.

God's view of homosexual behavior is quite different. I bring it to this thread only as an aside, though it is of even of greater importance, IMHO.

Perhaps the solution we will eventually reach is to strike the legal definition of marriage from the books and declare all unions as civil unions, leaving the term 'marriage' for private institutions to apply as they see fit. That will keep government out of the bedroom and religion out of government, at least in the area of private behavior.

It seems to me that you object to it on subjective grounds that have been influenced on you by the same people who taught Rex what he believes to be true.

Do you think that there could be a slight possibility that they may have meant good but made some huge mistakes about what they thought was good for humanity? I sure know I could be wrong. What is so bad about admitting that we truly do not know what is best for humanity?

Left to ourselves, we humans have never been able to decide what is good and what is bad. But sending the message to impressionable teens that homosexual feelings are no different than left handedness is a colossal mistake.
