@OmSigDAVID,
One fine Saturday a few years ago I revived up the old lawn mower and low and behold there was an possum underneath, no ignoring that mess.

@TilleyWink,
Did he play dead for you?

@roger,
Yes he did very, very dead. What a blood bath. I am probable one of the only persons in the world that consistantly looks under the lawn mower before turning it on.

@OmSigDAVID,
He's been here under a variety of screen names. See nimh's 'Synron' thread.

@OmSigDAVID,
David, I can't believe you haven't noticed, especially because many on these boards have identified him so many times. LOL

@cicerone imposter,
Maybe OmSig was trying (feebly) to be ironic? D'ya think?

@McGentrix,
I've got three. I should have more, though, as one of them keep reincarnating himself.

@TilleyWink,
Yeah.
I thought u were supposed to call them Opossums, like Obama.

About 25 years ago, I found a dead one in my backyard.
Maybe he froze ? Since then, I 've seen a live one.
I live in NYC (Queens). I did not expect to find that.

One nite last summer, a racoon walked across my left foot,
as he was crossing my backyard! He paused and looked up at me.
He appeared to be in good health.

HOW can u tell ?
(I feel like an ignoramous.)

Is it just his writing style ?
his choice of words ?
the particular beliefs that he expresses ?
some computer generated indication ?

There is only one person who I can identify
under different names, but she does not try hard to conceal her id.

Yes.
I 'll check, thank u.

@OmSigDAVID,
Some people have very distinct writing styles.

@FreeDuck,
Some do.

I don 't know how to use different screenames,
but if I did that, my fonetic spelling woud reveal who I am.

It coud be possible that maybe my style of writing
has other recogizable elements of which I am not aware.

An amusing and unfortunate ramification of the Ignore feature:

Jackasses who invoke the feature feel compelled to advise those who they intend to ignore, before they flip the switch.

Jackasses feel compelled to advise posters that they were contemplating invoking the feature but decided not to because they found their posts hilariously "ignorant."

Just use the damned thing and stop acting like anyone cares!

"I'm ignoring you!"

Actually you're not if you have to announce the perceived punishment, and dollars to donuts that everyone who feels compelled to announce invocation of the feature, doesn't abide by it for long.

What fools these mortals be.

@Finn dAbuzz,
Even worse are those of us who admit--right here on screen--that we can't resist peeking to see what they're saying about it after we put them on ignore. Smile

And in the end I imagine most members are using the feature sparingly.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I take a loose n informal attitude toward it, Find Abuzz.
If u tell him the reason for your doing it,
then he has the opportunity to silently re-consider his misconduct.

For some, I 've just flipped the switch, as u put it.

I have not taken anyone off "ignore user"
but when someone else has quoted him,
I have had occasion to comment on the subject matter.

It is not necessary to address him, personally.

I do not peek, because I know that I will only find poison,
bitterly obnoxious
, from the ignored user.
If he had been otherwise, if he had been better than that,
I 'd not have ignored him, in the first place.
I have never ignored anyone for simply having a different opinion.

Yes; only the very worst of the most detestable
