@cicerone imposter,
Where does he stand?

To the contrary.

To the contrary of what?

Whatever the issue of the day happens to be.

What if it is about something he has said or done?

He stands to the contrary of that too.

@nimh,
Better television would be if the Soviets decide to retake Hungary and bomb the **** out of the paprika factory where you live.

@cicerone imposter,
Yes, and people started to think that politics was important in 1941 when the war hit home and we were attacked by the sneaky Japanese. The people were scared and rightly so since there were so many possible saboteurs in California. Many of them lost their sons in the war and realized that something had gone wrong, yet, millions of American patriots joined up and fought the war to defeat the Japs and Nazis. Now, the USA is loaded with crypto communists from Berkeley and Socialist sympathizers from Europe and Hungary.

Only losers have stopped drinking Starbucks coffee, Who are the losers? Why, most of the 6 or 7 percent who are unemployed. The inner city freeloaders, the welfare beggars, the left wing immigrants riled up by pseudo-saviors.

Considering life's intrinsic capriciousness, we should at least offer each other our empathy and solidarity.

Hey, you want stances? Mysteryman gave you a link. Do you know how to read? If so, read it and you will see what the differences are. But you don't wish to read it do you? You just want to make phony posts which ask for what is under your nose. What a dim-wit!!

Beautifully said. I agree wholeheartedly.

@nimh,
Do you have empathy in Hungary? How can you afford it? The people there live in stark poverty. The GDp is about $10,000 dollars a year per person. I understand they eat bedbugs for breakfast with their coffee.

But, I am so happy that you are using the correct words, COMRADE. The Premier would be so happy to see you preaching SOLIDARITY.

How does that Soviet song go? Forwards to arms comrades, Solidarity forever!

You have read Ulyanov's works well, Nimh!

Um - I know I shouldnt, but - "solidarity" is hardly some kind of communist concept.

Case in point: Under what banner did Lech Walesa and the Poles gather, when they defied the communist dictators and organised strikes and protests for democracy?

Solidarnosc. Polish for "Solidarity".

@LionTamerX,
Thanks. I know that Phoenix wasn't talking about this (at least not this time), so my response may seem like it came from nowhere, but you know - I hate it when libertarian-minded folk use the notion that life just isnt fair to argue that there's no point in looking out for each other in society. In having each other's back, in providing some mechanisms to help the poor, support those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Her post just kind of tangentially reminded me of that, also because of previous posts.

I see the realisation that life can toss us about in capricious ways as all the more reason to make sure we have each other's back in society. To help the other one out when he's down, to make sure there's some kind of safety net for if you're out of luck. Cause it could happen to any of us. No matter how righteous you feel about how you made all the wise choices, how you've always fended for yourself, how you've always worked hard - it really could be you, down on your luck, next time. Why dont we just recognize we're all fallible, and could do with each other's support - and offer it? Spend a little extra in taxes so a safety net is in place that will help you, too - when it's your turn ...

@nimh,
What a wonderfully naive expression.

We all might find ourselves in a tough spot from time to time, and wouldn't it be wonderful if we could rely on our neighbors to help us out in such times?

Yes of course, and more times than not we can.

The actual reality of what your are suggesting (and feeling so damned good about it too) is that anyone who lays claim to being in a tough spot must be helped by his neighbors whether or not they agree he is in a tough spot or whether or not they have a problem with helping him because it was his very own fault that he got into the tough spot.

Yet another example of someone being generous with someone else's money

@SYNRON,
"Sneaky?" You're a racial bigot. What rat hole did you come out of? Prove from credible evidence that there were Japanese (American) saboteurs in California, you asshole?

You have no knowledge of WWII, and your racial bigotry and ignorance will earn you "ignore" from here on end.

This is especially rich, by the way. Considering you're the ones being all righteous. Sitting on your high horses feeling confident, looking down and making your judgements about who deserves to be helped and doesnt. Sitting in judgement deciding who deserves to receive sympathy and help, and who has only himself to blame.

But pride goes before a fall... life is capricious, yes, life is not fair. Meaning that you who think you have it all right, who feel all righteous about having made all the smart decisions, so eff those others who were stupid enough to make some wrong ones and get themselves into a tough spot - sooner or later, it is likely to be you too. And when it is, I can only hope that you dont meet too many people like ... yourself; people who will cast their glare upon you and judge whether you deserve their sympathy or tax dollar.

Many have lived responsibly all their lives until somebody in their family became ill, and they didn't have enough money for their medical care. Some people are stricken with incurable myopia.

Of course, He is the quintessential model for the concentration camp prisoner who will parrot the lines he thinks will ingratiate him with the people he is speaking to at the moment. There are many roles one can take but spineless unprincipled butt kissers are at the bottom of my list.

I thought you had me on ignore, Nimh! I didn'tknow you cared, Now that I have your attention,listen up. Solidarity was one of the key words used in the Gulag. Have you read Solzhenitzen? I think not. He dengrates one of your heroes--Uncle Joe.

And please,no Bullshit, Solidarity was a key Soviet concept for years before Welesa used it. And Walesa knew what he was doing-attempting to rein in some old Soviet sympathizers who were on the fence. Shame on you, Nimh, As a Crypto Communist in Hungary, you should know so much more about the origins of SOLIDARITY!

By the way, Ulyanov used Solidarity in his words LONG before Walesa did so cut the bullshit!

What? a 50% rate in the people's paradise of Hungary? Time for a revolution, comrade. Gather up the elitists and send them to the gulag. Careful, Nimh, better people than you have been sent to the Gulag for nothing.
