The clam is in a separate category. It cannot writhe visibly, cannot shout or whistle, cannot see the teeth coming. If it lives at the moment it gets eaten its death is no more cruel or drawn out than felling a steer. Next we will be arguing animal rights for the sponge, if I gauge the rest of a2k members right.

Clams have nerve ganglia and a CNS yea and even a brain. Eating a sentient being may be a moral issue herein.

I personally love raw (live) clams with Horseradish and tabasco with saltines.

No more than I love fresh sponges, with lots of ketchup on a hamburger bun. They scream silently ya know.

Yes. My father taught me to kill for food when I was a young kid. Maybe 11-12? He intended to make me respect animals and take responsibility for what I was doing when I ate meat. It worked. I never enjoyed doing it, and I'm very squeamish about it still, but I eat meat... respectfully.

Ha! I'm gittin' old. Already told the same story in 2008 when the thread was new. Dang!
