He carried / took the box of cakes to the table.

Should I use 'take' or 'carried'?

Many thanks.

@tanguatlay,
Both are correct but "carried" is more descriptive.

Other more descriptive ways to take the box of cakes to the table might be:
He lifted the box of cakes to the table.
He drug the box of cakes to the table.
He flung the box of cakes to the table.
He heaved the box of cakes to the table.

@thegalacticemperor,
Thanks, thegalacticemperor

Just to confirm.

What is the sentence is 'I carried a bowl of noodles to the table'?

As the bowl of noodles is light, should I use 'carried' or 'took'?

Many thanks.

@tanguatlay,
What does weight have to do with it? You can use either carried or took.

"Carry" is that better choice because it has the sense of conveyance from one
place to another. Weight makes no difference because "carry" does not imply
that the item is heavy.

@Shaunnas Dad,

I disagree. "Carried" does imply weight, however subtly.

@McTag,
I do not think that the difference between light weight and heavy weight matters
in the choice of the word "carry".

@tanguatlay,
I think it can matter but it doesn't have to. 'carry' can be completely neutral as to weight, as in,

[a book or something else light] Can you carry this for me?

As for Tanguatlay's example, I think there might be some other differences between take and carry though they elude me now.
