Actually, I DON'T think the President is the FIRST most powerful person.

Well, even if the president isn't the most powerful person, in your book, Bush got us into Iraq, he's done enough damage for my kid and her potential kids
to pay for it.

@CalamityJane,
Somehow, I thought you might...

Just keep in mind the words of Pauline Kael, a New York Times reporter from a ways back:

"I don't understand. Everyone I knew voted for him."

She was, of course, talking about George McGovern's defeat in the 1972 presidential race...

@Bi-Polar Bear,

this election is a perfect example of why, although a good idea, government of the people by the people and for the people can't work long term. the people aren't bright enough and are too easily manipulated and distracted.

I believe the electoral college process was intended to solve (or at least ameliorate) this problem.

Like I said. Put Palin out in front with a big ol' target on her forehead, and McCain gets a free ride.....

Clever way to get elected, but it just shows contempt for actually governing the country.

@Ramafuchs,
Excuse me please.
While i chat in A2k I should stoop to the level of some.
The lady who adorns this thread is misfit if not unfit to uphold the image of USA.
If- only if- a lady should distract the real problems of USA then one should seek advice PLAYBOY or PENTHOUSE children.
I hope I had stooped to such a low ebb/level to be qualifed to be the member of A2K

@CalamityJane,
Thank you Jane for reinforcing your views.

I can't think of one good reason to vote for Sarah Palin. She is out of the mainstream vis a vis female politicians. She is devious and selfserving.

As "Pink" put it very succiently she doesn't like women, and has nothing to offer the woman voter.

You don't know this, so I am going to tell you that seaglass is a very
successful women herself. She's a writer!

On the other hand, all females are successful women.

Nothing to offer the liberal/progressive woman voter.

If you lib/progressive women would poke your heads out of your lib/progressive circles, you would notice a large contingent of independent and conservative women voters who are far removed from your beliefs.

I'm not trying to be difficult here. But it doesn't take a lot of effort to find these women, supporters of gun rights, school choice, and other conservative positions.

Some of these women (gasp!) even oppose abortion.

I know the first instinct is to mock these women, belittle them and make fun of them, but does that really solve anything?

Palin is the reason McCain has taken a lead in the polls. Many women have identified with her, it seems.

And I would venture they are more common in this country than those who share your lib/progressive beliefs...

@A Lone Voice,
Frankly, Sarah Palin's personal beliefs have nothing to do with politics - ideally. I don't care what the label is she's associating herself with, once
the elective leaders starts infringing onto my personal life (pro life, pro God, pro defense, pro guns, pro abstinence) then I have a problem with them.

This is on a personal level, not a political one.
