@farmerman,
I've watched both of those, I think I'm up to date.
@farmerman,
Actually I may be wrong. I've been watching a show called
Boardwalk Empire with Steve Buscemi. Wonder why they had to change the name for us. The guy who plays Al Capone is brilliant, he played a skinhead in
This Is England, and he's in
Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy
@izzythepush,
No youre right I was wrong, the show IS called Boardwalk EMpire, its been a year or more since I saw it.
SO you watch DEXTER too?
@farmerman,
Yes, watched, the last series I saw he was up against a motivational speaker. I started watching Dexter when it first came out over here, and I don't think the delay is that much. Some series are just a few days behind, others, they wait a bit longer.
The reason I'm so far behind on The Sopranos is I missed the first series, and didn't want to see something part way through. Basically my wife was dying of cancer at the time, and I had two small children to look after, a lot of things passed me by.
They decided to start showing it from series 1 last year for people like me who'd missed it first time around, and those who'd like to see it again.
@izzythepush,
I hope your life is on the upswing now, and I can see nothing better as good family entertainment than the SOpranos. Lotta love in that show.
@farmerman,
Everything's fine now, thanks for asking, my wife died in 2004, I've got things back on track, most of my attention is focused on my kids. Some people like to wallow in misery, I've never been one of those. I do watch The Sopranos with my daughter who is now 19, and studying languages at the local University.
One thing I'm looking forward to, is how the painting with the racehorse that has Tony painted out and a Mussolini type figure painted in figures later on.
@farmerman,
Here in NH I see fewer cars with "jesus" tags on their bumper than I do "darwin" tags, so these Bills weren't likely to escape contempt.
Creationist Bills like this slink up out of the shadows, but like vampires they burn quickly once they hit the light of day.
@rosborne979,
well, I can see how NH is a state that seems full of level headedness in their legislature. Im sure the news media made more of the expectation than was really the case. WE always fail to recognize that a reporters spin isnt the way necessarily that the whole thing is transpiring.
Good lessons on how simply this issue should be handled in other parts of the country where common sense isnt maintained as one of our basic attributes.
@izzythepush,
Oh yeh, I forgot about the racehorse . It has an arc but I wont be a spoiler.

That's the case with all Hampshires, new, and not quite so new.
@farmerman,

You can't resist it can you fm? The "everybody is stupid" self-flattery. Unless you are identifying yourself with the stupid, aka lack of common sense, with the "our". Somehow, knowing you a bit, I doubt that.
I have provided a little lesson with my post containing quotes from Tristram Shandy about that sort of thing. It really disfigures the prose of those who engage in it. You know the thread.

Now I know how you claim to have a 100% effective natural means of birth control while still having sex. YOu only have sex with yourself.
Ive never heard any one so full of self - conceit and adoration with absolutely no apparent reason
@farmerman,
But you use "with" as a normative. What is "with" someone else? The blending of souls? The Romantic Agony of Mario Praz who was an Italian art critic knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and became a Knight Commander of the British Empire KBE.
It's a devious trick. Expecting the reader to complacently have an attention by-pass on the word "with". And knowing full well that 100% "with" is usually thought of as a madness.
@spendius,
The best books I know on the madness are Rider Haggard's. I think he had experience of it. He was jilted whilst serving his country in South Africa by a lady who wouldn't wait for his return.
Ayesha lays it on thickest. And with a sub plot about the madness of curiosity.
@farmerman,
I think some republican legislators also do this to entice and excite certain target constituents, knowing all the while that the Bills won't go anywhere anyway.
They of course get a little bit of bad press from supporting these Bills, but if their little patch of woods is populated by people that like this stuff, then I think they have more to gain to lose (from a votes point of view). And I wouldn't be surprised if the same type of behavior goes on at the national level also. Some Bills are probably proposed just to excite their voting base even if they know the Bills will go nowhere.
@rosborne979,
Well!!! I'm flabbergasted. I'll go to bottom of our stairs. I never knew people did that sort of thing. It's disgraceful. Somebody should put a stop to it.
@rosborne979,
well, whats next Missouri? New HAmster was easy. Yankees are like that.
Ricky Santorum is one of the "candidates" who's really pushing for teaching Intelligent Design. Apparently he doesnt understand what the Constitution says either.
Two days ago, I was at court.
Me and my brother (driver) experienced an accident, a dustbin collector of the local council reversed into our vehicle, which resulted in significant damage to our vehicle.
The insurence companies disputed this at the local council court.
The verdict?
The 'evidence' suggests that my brother was practicing reckless driving, in fact, the 'judge' argued that my brother traversed out of our home street at a high speed, being the result of the accident, furthermore he agued that our vehicle REVERSED back to the 'give way' line, therefore negligent.
It is most certainly ammusing when the mindless assertions of barristers are of a factual basis, whlst the 'judge' attempts to measure the truth reliability of this 'evidence'.
Also:
-The 'witnesses', being two other colleagues of the third party driver were not at scene of the accident.
-One of the 'witnesses' had intellectual disabilities, such mental retardation and illegibility, however the testimony was valid, though inconsistent with the other 'witnesses' (the defendant and colleague), he also had a criminal record.
-The barristers arguement being subjected to many logical fallacies, arguement from assertion and appealing to ridicule as examples, disingenous.
-The defendant (third party driver) asserted, in court, that he was in fact, NOT driving, yet the opposite was stated in his testimony, this is self refuting.
-After court, OUR barrister stated that "people say stupid things", meaning that the inconsistent testimonies are independent from the truth, he also denied us to present video footage of the aftermath.
Law appears to be entirly of normative appeal, baseless assumptions, in which the conclusion deviated significantly from the truth, to the extent of the being the reverse.
By simply sharing this, my cognitive bias has increased, it is most certainly infectious.
Therefore, I am not surprised that there are anti scientific bills.
I acknowledge philosophical repercussions of scientific/statistical methodology (empirical cycle), however normatives are of aposterioristic (entirely) epistemology, such inferences would require more assumptions than the scientific method, hence increasing the informal spectrum of logical fallacies.
Farmerman,
This is why I suggested occhams razor, the court did not favour it...
@farmerman,
Is the increase of lung capacity gross selection pressure?
It appears that you are suggesting that the sherpas do in fact have the
necessary biological apparatus to respire at such atmospheric pressures, these are not contemporary preservations/acclimatizations of physiology, these are intrinsic functions.
You argue geneotype definitions such as nucleotide polymorphism, and defining hox genes, I am not certain how modality is constructed between genotype-phenotype.
This requires an anatomical and biochemical definitions.
Also, what is the age of the sherpa population, even if reverse engineer genetic data, how can you be certain that this variation is not
prior to neolithic intervention?
@farmerman,
Understanding the Constitution might be a serious impediment to political ambition.
