@spendius,
I had all the confidence in the world that you would sooner or later discover a bit more of the plethora of facts about US history of which you were previously unaware. The difference between you and some grade school kid asking homework questions is that they admit they dont know what the hell theyre talking about.

I should sit on my ass waiting an intelligent thought for you to come up with?

NEW HAMPSHIRE UPDATE
Quote:
House committee dismisses bills on evolution
(By Sarah Palermo / Concord Monitor / February 16, 2012)

The House Education Committee dismissed two bills this morning that would have dictated classroom lectures on evolution, saying the legislation stepped too far over the bounds of local control.

The first bill, sponsored by Rep. Gary Hopper of Weare, told teachers to present all scientific theories as works-in-progress that students should challenge. The second, introduced by Rep. Jerry Bergevin of Manchester, required teachers to present evolutionary scientists' political and religious affiliations along with their scientific theories.

"In this committee, we've always taken the policy not to recommend what subjects the school teaches," said Rep. Ralph Boehm, a Litchfield Republican and vice chairman of the education committee, discussing the first bill.

"This bill is going a bit further and would recommend down to what they teach in a subject."

That authority is reserved in state statutes for local school boards, committee members said.

In moving to dismiss the second bill, Rep. Joseph Pitre of Farmington said only "ditto."

@wandeljw,
Ros should be proud how quickly this crap was set up and shot down in New HAmpshire. It only appeared to take long because of all the proprieties required under parliamentary procedure and rules of order that govern how the committees even meet .

Those Graniteheads can show the rest of the country that it dont take much to pack these clowns up and ship em home to Mississippi.

@farmerman,
Give us an answer to the questions I raised willya? Your lazy-arsed, well practised superficialities appeal only to the psychology of the mutt.

I don't read so much about American history and affairs as I do in order to master the pedantic details. I'm looking for a general picture, an impression.

It is one I associate with a massive inferiority complex along the lines Adler laid out.

I wade through books looking for the telling bits. We can all plausibly defend convictions. It is where the convictions come from that I'm interested in. Even the approval of honesty and gentility has a source in self-interest. Neither exist in evolution.

Just as big business had to be prevented from becoming the State so does Science. Both are tools of the State. Nothing more. I'm trust busting.

Getting that on the record is a satisfactory outcome of the proposals. If the bills provoked that they were worthwhile and it may well be that that was the intention. To force the issue.

Which anti-IDer is going to abstain in the election because no candidate is an atheist? Everything that has been said on here about religious people applies to all non-atheist candidates. How can you vote for anybody you have said those things about.

You're dealing in alienation actually. Deep and abiding. Revolt against one's parents, authority, one's fellows etc which, as I said, is exciting. I know the feeling well. I got over it.

But that is not the line you took when the Indiana business appeared. You implied a political gambit being in operation. And you were right then. Things are seldom as they seem. Skimmed milk masquerades as cream and jackdaws strut in peacock feathers.

But, spendi, right now I feel alienated from you and I may never get over it.

It's a slang word for penis, but more usually means idiot. It was made famous in the cult TV show Only Fools And Horses.

@farmerman,
We use dickhead as well. We get a lot more American telly than you get British telly, a lot more. Probably about 50% of what is shown is American.

ok, now I kow how far you are. SAY NO MORE.
Hows your opinion of SOpranos. I can say this , the antisocial narcissism as portrayed by Tony and Paulie Walnuts is fairly consistent of these guys.

@farmerman,
I'm really enjoying it. I wouldn't have stuck with it this long otherwise. I saw the first episode of Grimms the other day. I've not made my mind up yet, then again, it's not really fair to judge anything on the pilot, unless it's terrible, and it wasn't terrible.

@izzythepush,
Actually, one thing that really impressed me about The Sopranos was the killing of Ralphie. He was utterly despicable, but I actually felt sorry for him at the end, that's good writing.

@izzythepush,
turns out that Grimm is popular among men. It has a quirky sense of humor as the Blutbaden friend of Grimm becomes a sort of comic relief. AND, its a necessary role because as the series progresses and these new "beasts" show up, Grimm needs to have them introduced by an "insider".

The only thing Im annoyed at was when they took a hiatus and it lost the intensity

Sopranos always stood on its own as one of the best series our tv has produced. The nternescene power grabs that were going on all the time as Uncle Junior lost his fast ball was good insight and was based upon the life of an actual Don in NY who walked around in pajamas and played a role that he was demented

You may enjoy "Dexter" also, as well as "Boardwalk Kingdom" with Steve Buscemi in a different type of role
