Actually Adam was not a name...it was a word that meant mankind but it had to be changed to a man's name when another version of the Creation story that gave us a special story for the creation of woman was included .

His first wife was named Lilith, and his incestuous son Cain married his sister , which was a fact only reported in the Book of Jubilees. Sound familiar? Mythology seems to follow a pattern that's totally predictable from that period. Bible writers had no imagination or consistency in how they "told the story." There are so many contradictions in the bible, it's a wonder it lasted this long.
