@spendius,
BTW--ci. You do know what an Inquisition is do you? It is an institution which seeks to extirpate any idea which undermines the settled order. And those in the power elite run it. And generally in secret.

Some would say that Bradley Manning is in the hands of a modern Inquisition. Administrative judgements. You will notice that fm got 2 secret votes. Not that they count for as much as a blow on a ragman's trumpet mind you. Not yet anyway. And I got a thumbs down. Also secret. The brief thrill of an illusion of momentary power.

So basically you and fm and the secret ballots are opposed to everything you claim to stand for. You have a powerless little ******* Inquisition on your hands and what's even funnier is that you don't even know it.

I would believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster to avoid such things even if its main dogma was raising the age of consent to 36.

Keeping you buggers away from power and influence is my project. You po-faced presbyterian twats.

@spendius,
I could be wrong because I got my definition of virgin from my pastor a few weeks ago! He said it is a person that has never experienced logical reasoning!

Please keep in mind that I do not believe every thing my pastor says is truth!

@reasoning logic,
I believe it was the Holy Roman Catholic Church that took the Inquisition to its highest peaks. Extirpation of independent and non -Churcg centered scientific thought was considered blasphemy and sins against MotherChurch.

Its humorous that we have the term attempting to be used by the head loon.

And I believe it was the civilian powers who called for them to visit to get rid of the trouble makers . Do you think there really were witches ?

@farmerman,
It's not a label fm. It's a state of mind. I explained it for you. Either deal with the explanation or accept it.

That you lot are an inchoate inquisition you have proved to my entire satisfaction. All you need is power.

You obviously haven't read Darkness at Noon. Or the record of the proceedings against Socrates. Or those against Joan of Arc. And some others closer to home I could mention. The RC Inquisition was a child of its time.

And it isn't our time notwithstanding your project.

@wandeljw,
I, for one, never thought religion was an enemy of science. When I was in 6th grade, one of my classmates asked Sister Thomasine whether ". . . it was alright to believe in evolution." She said as long as you believe that at some point, God breathed a soul into an ape and called him Adam.

@plainoldme,
Actually Adam was not a name...it was a word that meant mankind but it had to be changed to a man's name when another version of the Creation story that gave us a special story for the creation of woman was included .

@Ionus,
whether it means mankind or not. The Biblical tale tells that the first manwas named Adam. His first wife was named Lilith, and his incestuous son Cain married his sister , which was a fact only reported in the Book of Jubilees. Many books were banned by the early paranoid schizophrenic church, even though they predated the religion by many centuries.

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such a school has no religious ...instruction and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith ... We need believing people."

@plainoldme,
Yes we do need a religion! Maybe we could call it "the religion without faith" or a "logical religion" one where a person does not have to believe in things that can not be observed without some sort of confidence.

@farmerman,
I also heard something of interest on the radio this morning; they were discussing the birth of Abraham, and how his birth was declared "someone special," and that the king declared all first born males killed.

Sound familiar? Mythology seems to follow a pattern that's totally predictable from that period. Bible writers had no imagination or consistency in how they "told the story." There are so many contradictions in the bible, it's a wonder it lasted this long.
