I was having a nice discusion with dlowan today, and I made the statement that imagining things keeps me young.

For the longest time, even at the age of 26 i still like to pretend im a t-rex stalking through the forest looking for food. Scratching at things with my stubby little arms.

I love my imagination. It is the thing that keeps me sane, as weird as it sounds. It's my get away, my hiding spot.

What keeps you young?

@Seed,
I'll think about it while I'm at The Ex today and let you know tomorrow.

I'll be screaming on the Scrambler and Polar Express - mebbe that's good for keeping the blood flowing?

@Seed,
I think that to stay young, you need to keep your sense of wonder. I am always open to learning new things, and am not averse to trying something different, just for the hell of it.

@Phoenix32890,
if you want to keep your sense of wonder, just find a clear sky and look up at night.

Great thread, Seed.
Thank u for it; it shows u r very imaginative.

Do u know how to make yourself a god ?
U can make yourself a god by creating a story (e.g., of a stalking T rex).
U r then the god of that universe.
Everything in that universe is of your creation
and is subject to your definition.

Your will will be done.

Travel to conventions keeps me young; meeting my friends there;
seeing familiar faces each year, for many years; eating out at the best restaurants of that city.
I enjoy the conventions' speakers and the hospitality rooms.

I have also enjoyed visiting the zoo
of a city to which I travel; call me ideosyncratic.

@OmSigDAVID,
Oh man. The Zoo! I love the zoo. Walking around eatting popcorn as a child, ever exhibit i went to was another adventure. I always imagined myself going and capturing the creatures. Man I cant wait to get back to the states and go to a Zoo. Its the simple things you miss, when you dont have them, no?

Yes.
That used to be MORE true, before the explorations of our Space Program.
It was a different world; a more ignorant world.
We did not know whether there was life on Mars nor on Venus; now we know
that thay r both bleak, inhospitable deserts.

In my youth, I looked up with a sense of wonder.
Now I look up and know that I am already in the best place in the solar system
and probably the best place in the whole galaxy.

I work in a youth oriented business.
I got youthful genes.... that's strictly luck
I still believe in a world just behind the curtain.... a parallel universe where anything is possible and is happening right now.
I believe that I sometimes get a glimpse of that world and I recognize it when I do.
I refuse to think of myself as anything but a young man, and the thought of
the world without me in it doesn't even cross my mind.
Squinney and my cubs make me feel young. (most of the time)
I get up and go.
I do what I want without thinking about whether I can.
For all my cynicism, and I'm chock full of it.... I believe there's a happy ending waiting for me which is not really an ending but a transition.
I did a lot of acid, mushrooms and mescaline from like 1964 til 198-something.
I laugh...long and loud, anytime I feel like it regardless of where I am.... and it happens a lot.
When life knocks me down.... even though sometimes I lie on the canvas awhile, I always get back up and tell life to **** itself if it thinks it can get the best of me.
I'm a self centered prick.

That works for me.

@OmSigDAVID,
I dont know about that. Part of using your imagination is being able to go against all things you know are true. Being able to break boundries and believing that there just might be life out there, and then what happens when you first meet them? Al kinds of thoughts and things and spawn then

I am fortunate in living about half an hour from one of America 's 2 best zoos.

However, u don 't have to wait until u get home to go;
many alien cities have zooz. It almost killed me to visit Hong Kong 's zoo;
its on about a 45 degree angle hill. It coud be possible that maybe wherever u r
has a zoo; give it a chance, to see how good it is. Compare n contrast !
