@Joe Nation,
bacon!

Ok, this weekend I have no list of foods. I was busy and ate a bite or 2 where I could.

BUT...I will say this, I know I didn't eat anything that I wouldn't report here....

The only treat I had was some chocolate covered almond m&m's. Otherwise, grains, vegs, salad, pasta, grilled tuna, etc.

I'll be back to regular tomorrow.

For the quinoa fans, I've seen a bunch of interesting recipes with it lately. Will give one link that will lead to others if you have any interest.

I bought quinoa, having read good stuff about it, a few years ago and went "pfui" and tossed it, but I didn't know about the rinsing thing. I checked it lately, figuring I'd go back and look at how Chai said to cook it, but it was too pricey for moi, at least at Albertson's. We'll see.

Here's the NYTimes link for one salad, but there are at least 4 other recipes or quinoa articles.. if you look to the right of the page.

@mac11,
You're welcome, Mac. I figure there are a lot of things to do with quinoa if I get to like it and find it at a good price. Some of my favorite rices, like red rice, or vialone nano or carnaroli (japonica rices grown in italy) are expensive too. Sigh.

'Nother thing I want to use more is barley..

@ossobuco,
Yeah, I love barley too.

All these grains are cheaper if you have a place that sells bulk grains.

@mac11,
Not really. There is some bulk stuff, but not a good selection. Not sure if there is any good selection in Albuquerque at all, but there might be on the other side of town (where TJ's and Whole Foods are.. bunch of miles away.)

@ossobuco,
I have a Whole Foods close by, but I only go about once a month to buy grains and a few other things that I can only find there. It's too expensive to go for regular shopping.

@ossobuco,
The Star Market by us is trying to be a Whole Foods/Trader Joe's hybrid, but with mainstream stuff. Succeeds part of the time, but it has better prices and parking than the others, plus the staff are all super-nice, so we end up there.
