@alex240101,
I look at that and see a lot of expense..

but it looks good. Probably too sweet for me, but that's easily fixable.

How long does that last you, Alex?

Not sure I reported on it here, but I made a upside down pear tart thing, rather like a tarte tatin, and it turned out well. I still have half of it left, I've lost my sweet tooth in large part - I still like the odd bit of good chocolate or the piece of sugared orange rind or ginger, but that is something like once a week. I figure this is a good thing.

@ossobuco,
Hello ossobuco.
When my friend made that recipe, they echoed your sentiment, expensive. I purchased everything in bulk, so, by the time I get done with all the batches, the cost per batch will be reasonable. Also, you can substitute or delete almost any item on the ingredient list.

Raising a piece of an apple to a speedy recovery jespah.

I'm glad to hear that you're on the mend, jes. I know you're looking forward to getting back to normal. Of course, your normality will be tighter all over now. Very Happy (((((jes)))))

Thanks everyone. It's funny how you measure progress (I'm sure Roberta can relate to this): it will be a major triumph if I can take a shower today (aren't you glad you don't have smell-o-vision on your PC?). Smile

God bless whoever invented bendy straws, slipper socks and Celebrex.

Cheers, Jes.... just take your time.

Hey, Mac, haven't tried the fish yet. Maybe this weekend, it might sound good for a late lunch Sunday.

I am on bread and water today.
Actually no bread.

Celestial Seasonings Chocolate Raspberry Bliss tea - a nice dessert alternative

really

(watch those bagels, JoeN, they're wonderfully delish - but in terms of calories, you'd be better off eating a plain donut - which I'm also not recommending)

@Joe Nation,
Hello. Smile

Trending up, I can tell, but I'm still at a point where I need to eat whatever's put in front of me. Going back to drinking a lot of water has been huge. No cardio, though, not for another week or so, and no strength training for a good month or so after that. It'll be like we were just starting out -- just once around the block, thank you very much, okay, I'm done for the day. Might try that today or tomorrow.

Hope all are well. Hugs are kinda painful but kisses are awesome.

@mac11,
Thank ya!

Back to tracking, finally!

So, here's the deal. On the 15th, I ate absolutely nothing except possibly for some diet ginger ale (can't recall if it was before or after midnight). It was the most amazing stuff I had ever tasted, seeing as how thirsty I was.

The 16th and part of the 17th I was in the hospital. Had oatmeal, tortellini, fish, squash, various juices. Meals blend together there. Food wasn't too bad, actually.

For the 17th - 22nd, I ate whatever I was given. This involved things like soup and yogurt (not together). Fish one night (haddock). An awesome PBJ one afternoon. Lots of bananas. One night we ordered Chinese and I had chicken pan fried noodles for the first time since 2007.

On the 23rd I had a setback involving lightheadedness and made a trip to the ER, where they said I'd had a vasovagal episode, most likely due to not having eaten anything yet that day. I was feeling icky so I ate a lot of white food that day: untoasted bread, yogurt, plain skim milk, more banana.

Yesterday I was fine until dinnertime, when I started getting wicked reflux (comes from not being able to really sit up straight). Anyway, here's yesterday:

Breakfast: Quaker Instant Oatmeal, 1 packet, prepared
Walnuts, 0.5 oz (7 halves)
Fruit Salad, 1 cup
Granola Crisps - Yogi, 0.25 serving

Lunch: Egg substitute, liquid (Egg Beaters), 1 cup
Broccoli, 1 cup
Monterey Cheese, 1 oz
Fiber One Country White Bread, 2 servings
Jam, 1 tbsp
Fruit Salad, 1 cup
Yogurt, Stonyfield Farm fat free plain (6 oz)

Dinner: Yogurt, Stonyfield Farm fat free plain (6 oz)

CALORIES 1067 CARBS 166g FAT 23 g PROTEIN 65 g Sodium: 1475 mg

Oh and yay, yesterday we walked for 15 minutes!

Original Weight: 346 lbs.
Current Weight: 181.4
Difference from 2 weeks ago: down 3.4 lbs.
Difference from last week: up 1.4 lbs.
Overall difference: down 164.6 lbs.

Doctor says I've still got a lot of water weight from the general anesthesia, so the numbers are deceptive.
