Why do most gay men insist on using Arnold as an avatar?

What's up with that?

He epitomises (or once did....gravity and time have taken their usual toll) the muscle man type of gay icon.

He actually does it with a bit of irony, too...which would be appreciated.

what bull? and why would you hope so? do you see that as an insult? cause you'd fail to insult me by calling me gay, that's just silly. then again, you'd probably fail to insult me, period.

That perhaps obsure pop culture reference is from the movie "The Breakfast Club."

"Don't mess with the bull, young man ... you'll get the horns."

I wouldn't try to insult you, dag. You are an extremely courteous and polite -- and at the moment, humor-challenged -- poster at this site.

But why do you think I was trying to insult anyone? Was Cylops trying to insult Conservatives by calling them white? What about fat? Is Cyclops insulated from your insult-detector? Or do fat white people not merit your defense?

The point is Cyclops threw out an outrageous statistic he pried from his anal fissure, and I was attempting to replicate with an equally outrageous statistic.

... and the next time I have to come in here I'm crackin' skulls.

Just a description based upon all available evidence.

I'm sure you're one of the 5% though...

I wonder how many prominent Conservatives can be located who are not, in fact, portly white males? For I assure you that I can locate a huge number who do in fact meet that description.

Oh, I suppose I should point out that there are women involved too. And Ann Coulter certainly brings the average weight for them down Laughing

Maybe we should do a study.

Here's a member of the fat and white club:

And this guy's a member of the extra-fat and white club:

And I'm pretty sure this kid's not destined for his school's Young Republicans club ... I think he's one of yours:

I am glad to see the responses I predicted. I'd say the article was spot on.

Thanks guys!

Wow, you posted something that was insulting to liberals, and then predicted that they'd post insulting angry retorts to it. How'd you ever predict that! You're like a new Nostradamus or something.

Tell me, if I posted a thread called "Conservatives are arrogant douchebags," what do you predict the responses would be from the right? I can't possibly even guess, but I can't wait to find out from our resident fortune-teller!

Neither of which?

I wasn't going for "funny."

It makes you much more cranky than you need to be. Here's another quote from another movie ... doubtful you will be amused by it either:

"You get the pole out of your keister, we're gonna get along just fine."

I don't think either one of us were trying to be funny.

I said you're humor challenged because you're taking this waaaaaay too seriously.

i did assume you were trying to be funny, by the way.... i'm a bit puzzled that you weren't.... if the 'gay men' was not a joke, what was it?

If you assumed I was trying to be funny, why did you react completely as if I wasn't?

because the "what i perceived as a joke" did not strike me as funny, but as a cheap stereotypical retort.

same for cyclo, by the way, since you brought it up....though i did not think he was joking. i did think you were. if you weren't, i'm sorry (just confused as to what it was if not a joke).

In that first post, I was joking in the sense that I wasn't being serious. But you do appear to have taken it seriously (as a cheap stereotypical retort) despite your claim to have believed I was joking. At first I thought that was because you didn't understand my follow-up post with the "don't mess with the bull" line, but you have continued to press this issue despite my explanation.

I'm having a difficult time believing your claim to not be humor-challenged, since you thought I was joking yet took me seriously all the same.

so you were joking, but if i don't laugh at your joke because it rubs me the wrong way, i am "humor challenged". and you are still right, and i am wrong. i am the one with the problem, your joke was totally appropriate and i gotta lighten up.

got it. you simply cannot go wrong.
