I don't like Starbucks.

There I said it.

It's too strong for me.

I'll go in and have a non-fat, no whip mocha (which is still ridiculously fattening) but their coffee does nothing for me.

I like Tim Hortons coffee. Einstein Bagels is pretty good. But today, I stopped in at 7/11 to pick up a paper and decided to get some coffee.

7/11 coffee is pretty damn good!

Who knew?

Where do you like to get your coffee?

Actually, and I kid you not, the White Castle has a damned good cup of coffee. That's about the only thing decent they offer, but I would choose a cup of White Castle java over Starbucks or Caribou any day of the week.

And the people who frequent the Castle are a much more diverse and interesting bunch than the plastic robots that make their mechanical way through the coffee-buying process.

Where other than home?

Your "treat myself" coffee.

Not you Gus.

I've already heeded your advice and got me a bag of sliders and a coffee.

I didn't suggest the sliders. You're on your own there.

Laughing

Chateau Blanc's burgers are, well, how shall I say this?

Their fries, however, are quite tasty.

I agree with Gus--White Castle Coffee is the best. I lived about a block from one in Cincinnati a decade or so ago---best drive through coffee everywhere. As for the sliders, it's a hambergurstuff sammich that you can eat with a straw and sticks with you for a week---the Onion Chips aren't bad.

I'm not much impressed by commercial coffees, and i prefer Columbian coffee, which it appears is not sufficiently upscale these days to get any billing at the trendy establishments.

I only came back here because i wanted to comment that i, too, found the coffee at 7-11 to be quite good. White Castle coffee ain't bad, but i don't think it's that great, either. Sliders, however, and an evil assault on one's alimentary tract, and should only be indulged in by those who live alone and can quickly and efficiently ventilate their homes.

When I want to look mature, I drink my diet coke from a coffee cup.

Usually, café's and restaurants in Europe don't tell you what coffee brand they use.
But in good café's you can choose between several countries of origin (for the roasted coffee, that is).

Brasilian "Fazenda Lagoa" is THE one when I want to "treat myself" (at home, we only use cheap 'bistro selection).

I agree - but I think they put something in the coffee to make people addicted to it. Why do you think they have such long lines every morning.

And here there are so many (and still long lines) that almost every driving driving direction contains "...and you turn left/right at the Dunkin Donuts..."

You might be surprised.

McDonalds.

I also like their orange juice, which doesn't upset my stomach.

Second Cup. Blenz. Seattle's Best. Take 5. In order of preference.

We don't have a White Castle here.

Are you in the US, Bella? I didn't know Timmy's was down there.

I HATE, HATE, HATE Starbucks. It's said they burn their beans and that's why it's so awful. Disgusting. But there's always line ups and they often have outlets across from each other and there's still lineups. I guess to keep the competition out.

I've had mixed results with the McDonalds coffee - but I always drink iced coffee so maybe that's why. Sometimes it good, sometimes they don't have it cold enough and all the ice melts, sometimes they put in too much ice or too little....DD is a bit more consistent.

Second Cup. Country Style is drinkable. Tim Horton's is horrible. I cannot drink Starbuck's coffee. I like Dunkin' Donuts but you have to go to the US or Quebec. (Actually I went to Dunkin' Donuts for the Wheatberry donuts -- whole wheat -- which made me feel virtuous. They don't have them anymore so...)
