He's mostly about raising taxes, and a strong national defense.

Though if you make less then 75k, he says he wants to cut your taxes. So I guess a lot of it depends on your income level.

Cycloptichorn

And if you make more than 75K, like the majority of voters, you get it in the neck. And if you make more than 250K, he will tax you down to poverty levels and give handouts to the unwilling.

That's not sound fiscal management. That is socialism.

Woiyo. Why are you doing this to yourself?

The median household income for 2006 was $48,000, not more then 75k. To say that 'the majority of voters' make more then 75k is a base lie.

As you can see from the graph below, 70% of Americans make less then 75k; and that's combined household income, so I'm quite sure that this counts both the husband and wife working in many cases.

You're like those fools who think that people making 200k+ are 'middle class.' Where do you come up with this stuff?

Is Obama about reducing the size of government?

How does he feel about personal freedoms?

I'm sure he would like to reduce the size of the government, by getting rid of some dead weight in the DoD.

As for personal freedoms, I suspect that he likes them.

Really? See table 8 and look at VOTERS.

http://www.census.gov/population/www/socdemo/voting/cps2004.html

I did not do the math but I am not far off especially at the oder ages.

You REALLY didn't do the math.

From your table,

There were 161 million registered voters in 2004.

Roughly 42 million of them reported making more then 75k per year - and that's FAMILY income, not personal income, so once again, we are in many cases looking at two people contributing to that total, which brings the average down even farther.

That's roughly 25% of the population.

The vast, vast majority of registered voters make less then 75k. You couldn't have been more wrong if you tried. In fact, when we break it out to the older voters:

There were 69 million registered voters age 45-74.

Roughly 20 million of them reported more then 75k for their household income.

This is about 28%; that's still far less then the 'majority' of voters...

Ya got any other data that will make your case? 'cause, what you provided was far more helpful to me then it was to your contention.

97352 total voters of which 52,370 make over 50K. Thats 54%

34% over 75%.

Close enough for me. I'm gonna get it in the neck from Obama.

Woiyo must be a mathematician. He is trying to prove that 2+2=5.

Well, you changed your number from 75k to 50k; that does induce a difference into the results, when you go back and change the parameters to fit what you wish.

You say ....

He wants to raise taxes. That never works.
He says he wants a strong national defense, but he wants to cut the DoD. That's not going to work.
And you suspect he likes personal freedoms ... no doubt his own, but what about the rest of us ??

Jimmy Carter with a tan, no thanks!

I just have to say...

I am heartened by a couple of things...

One, the desperate tone the Obama detractors have taken on, since he became the nominee and gained a 10+ point lead over McCain in national polls -they are really grasping. (Look at woiyo tapdancing to make his "facts" fit his "concerns" - a beautiful thing to behold).

Two, the fact that the nature of their "concerns" about him has remained just about consistent from when he was just one in a pack of half a dozen dem candidates.

It's still unsubstantial, but its gotten just so musically shrill of late.

Obama's cute little premature presidential seal sports the words Vero Possumus

I have it on good authority (My Brain) that those two words stand for ... "Let them eat Possums"

Americans will be so over taxed by Obama that Possum, not Pork, will be the other white meat.

I hope you like that kind of progressive change.

According to ABC's Charlie Gibson, $200k IS middle class...

http://mediamatters.org/items/200801060004

And John Edwards also says $200k is middle class...

http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/22538.html

Mitt Romney also said that $200k was middle class...

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/01/12/romney_sees_need_for_action_to_avert_recession/

So there ARE some serious people out there that DO consider $200k "middle class".

In Romney's and Edward's case, you can understand their confusion since it was a long time since they made that, but $200k/yr is outstanding money. Unless you have no self restraint, you should be able to do what you want (within reason) with that kind of money.

Sorry, but those are all millionaires talking, and I frankly think they have not a clue what 'middle class' is.

Thats irrelevant!
You asked where he came up with that stuff, and one of the sources was the former VP nominee, and another was Charlie Gibson.

Are you now saying that the wealthy cant speak on the subject?

Here is a fact. My bet is you do not like this poll.

Gallup Poll daily tracking. Three-day rolling average. N=approx. 2,600 registers voters nationwide. MoE ± 2. June 7, 2008, & earlier: Based on a five-day rolling average. N=approx. 4,400 registers voters nationwide. MoE ± 2.

The tracking polls are nearly always closer then any others. Don't know why.

I'm still comfortable with the average at the moment, and Obama's large lead in several states Bush won in 2004; none of which McCain can afford to lose.
