Rube Goldberg may be a little dated for some folks. Here's Rube's idea for a back scratcher:

The problem i see with this "n-rigged" and "afro-engineered" thing is that it is so unnecessary. We already have a locution in the language--jury-rigged--which means exactly the same thing. To use such expressions is a matter of intent, one can express the idea with jury-rigged, or with "kind of Rube Goldberg" and never need descend into invidious comparisons based on racist stereotypes.
Agreed.
When someone believes they are getting a bad deal, there is no necessity to refer to refer to the situation as getting "jewed."

Always at the bottom in Math--Why? Well, you know they have been "victimized" by the racist society! Imagine a cab driver wouldn't take Snide in her cab.
But, when one reads about Cab Drivers, strange stories, even stranger than Snide's appear--
Quote
"Riddick Bragg is a middle aged African-American who drives a Yellow Cab in the Nation's capital. I don't have a problem picking up anybody but I have to be careful. I won't pick up three black men at one time. If I pick up two, I have one sit up in front. There are some places I simply won't go."
HOW SHOCKING!!! Was Snide wearing his Malcome X T-shirt? That might explain it.
And, I am sure that Snide never heard of this--"There is nothing more painful for me than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start to think about robbery, and then see it's somebody white and feel relieved"
Who said that -Snide? The great Afro-American leader--Jesse Jackson.
But Diest TKO and other posters tell stories but do not give facts.
Why are so few Afro-Americans PARTNERS in big law? If, as Obama says, the goodies in society should be equally distributed, 12% of the lawyers in big law should be black.
And< I am sure that you do not know that Afro-American scores on the LSAT which is needed to get into law school is abysmal. But that is, of course, because of endemic racism in society--Yeah-sure.
Note:
Law Firms Still Lag in Minority Hiring
By: David Rubenstein and Jennifer Juarez Robles
Not only do few blacks attend big-name schools, they tend to have lower grades than their white counterparts, law firms complain.
While no data is available on students' grades by race, minorities' scores on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), considered a reliable predictor of future law school performance, are 10 points lower than whites', according to the Law School Admission Council in Newton, Penn., which is affiliated with the group that oversees the LSAT. The mean for all test-takers is 32; the mean for minorities is 22 on a scale of 10 to 48.
Associate Dean Robert Clayton of Tulane University Law School explained the implications of LSAT data, using an example from the University of Chicago. In 1989 the average LSAT score for an entering freshman there was 44, and only 48 blacks out of 5,000-plus law school applicants score that high, said Clayton, a member of the council committee that compiled the figures.
"What that means is that you are introducing, based on your admission criteria, black and Hispanic students who are predicted to finish in the bottom 50 percent of the class," he said. And the higher the standards of the school, the further down in class rank minorities are likely to be.

Now, Diest TKO, since I am sure you can't rebut this, I know you won't. I also know that Setanta who is afraid of me since I eviscerated his failing argument that the Nazis were totally right wing and not at all Socialistic, will not do it.
Snide, of course, cannot do it. I have never seen him use a link at any time on these threads.
I leave this evidence for those who really want to learn. It is obvious that Diest TKO has great learning--100 yards wide and a half inch deep!
Those who are not reflexively left wingers may note the furious and nervous change of topic by those FEARING contradiction.

So we are working and I hear the other group doing some brainstorming. Through all the chaos one statement escaped their group in the noisy room.
I guess we'll have to "Africa-Engineer" it. Everyone laughed and thought nothing of it.
I thought that I was mistaken at first; that I had heard it wrong, but I quickly noticed the expression on on of my teammates. He had heard it too.
Just two days ago, I was posting here with Bi-polar Bear, and we were discussing the presence of racism in the younger generations. Bear seemed to think that the presence was real, but isolated to a more insular less educated group.
These were agroup of 6 Aerospace Engineers... Rocket Scientists. They weren't from small towns. I know these guys, they were all from St. Louis, and most attended nice private highschools.
The discussion that Bear and I had was pompted by Asherman's statement about how in white communities, whites aren't used to hearing language like this. He specifically used the phrase "politically incorrect language."
With the exception of myself, the room was all white.
When this happened, I couldn't help but think how wrong Asherman was. I think the community is too used to hearing this kind of language and it's got to the point where people are just numb to it.

Hello "Africa-Engineering"
What's next?
The team leader for that team, is a friend of mine. He was not present, I plan to report this to him when I see him tomorrow. I will let him sort out his team.

Well, it's all relative...
Drunken Irish

gooks...zipper heads
peckerwoods...

Political correctness is anathema to Americanism.
Reverse Discrimination?
Unearned privileges being extended to African-Americans who are not economically disadvantaged.
The Constitution of the United States is clear on this--The Fourteenth Amendment--
COMMENTARY READS:
" Although the PRIMARY impetus behind the FOURTEENTH amendment( and its equal protection clause) was to protect African-Americans, THE FRAMERS OF THE CONSITUTION PHRASED THE PROTECTION IN GENERAL TERMS AND THE COURTS HAVE APPLIED IT IN THAT FASHION. Thus today, even classificatios favoring African-Americans are presumptively unconstitutional absent of sufficiently weighty reasons.
When the Supreme Court sticks its findings on the New Haven Firefighters Case in Obama's ear, you will hear yelps from the left wing!--two more weeks to wait!

I like your posts, David. I have told you that before, but I must regretably point out something you may have missed.
I am sure that if you asked Diest TKO and Setanta, they would say that when they pray, they think--"I am so glad that I am not biased and not a member of the KKK." I can hold my head up high since I do not discriminate against anyone( except those that are so stubborn they won't see the truth). I am a progressive thinker allied to freedom--equality---tolerance--even license, if need be. I feel so sorry for those who have not glimpsed the truth."
You( andI) David are anethema to the people like Diest TKO and Setanta who have been freed of prejudice.
They have a right to feel good about themselves, don't they?( even though some psychologists say that their thoughts are a way to boost their flagging egos and self-esteem). They really care nothing about truth but only wish to feel good about the wonderful people they really are!!

I just meant that, the topic had not actually changed that much....we all get lumped into groups....if I asked you..."did you Jew him down" you would know exaclty what I meant....you haggled over the price....because the word in that context has become deeply ingrained in our language. Is it a slur toward the Jewish race...I'm sure it offends some folks more than others. I know a lot of people that say "chewed" instead of jewed....I was 17 {from a conversation about buying a guitar} before I knew some people were saying jewed.
I do not mind when someone mentions the Irish being drunks, which to be honest isn't so much a hot topic as it was in earlier times....but there are still jokes made in that sense....Teddy Kennedy probably keeps that one alive by himself. I'm not Irish, but of Scottish decent, so I'm just using Irish for the sake of the argument....we are a similar people....and it's just that you don't hear a lot of anti-Scot material or negative sterotypes....I like to build things, and I'm a tightwad...very frugal.....I do enjoy my single malt, but only on rare occasions.....if anyone has some stinging things to say about those that hail from Alba...let it rip, I'm all ears, and I won't cry foul I promise.
The afro-engineered thing, when I said I thought it was cute....my meaning is doublefold....it's not as bitter sounding, and it also takes a stab at the whole hyphenated thing that took off a few decades ago...African-American....don't single us out, but yet do. Teddy R. had some nice words about Americans using hyphenation, and I agree with him 100% on that. BUT....I still prefer southern engineered, since I am only making fun of myself by using it, or just simply rigged.....Jerry rigged....I always wondered who Jerry was.
Not to say that nothing bothers me....there are plenty of things that do.
@2PacksAday,
Quote:and it's just that you don't hear a lot of anti-Scot material or negative sterotypes
Nonsense. Scots are stereotyped as being as sharp in business as Jews are portrayed, and are legendarily said to be extremely tight with money. The story for a long time was that the Grand Canyon was created by a Scotsman who dropped a nickel, and started digging for it.
Just because you are not familiar with a particular stereotype, doesn't mean there isn't one.
@Setanta,
Right. Or Jerry rigged, in my lexicon.
@Joeblow,
The only point is that one needn't entertain a racist or slighting stereotype to express oneself . . . wanna doughnut?

Germans have been referred to as Jerrys; that might be it.
I surmise that there formerly were cultural differences
attributed to Jews; long ago, many decades ago, I used to hear jokes
ascribing shrewdness n stinginess to them.
People also used to joke saying that the Scotch were very stingy.
Walt Disney had Scrooge MacDuck.
I have not heard joking of that nature since the 1940s and 50s, that I remember.
I surmise that it is obsolete.
Most of my friends are Jews; we 've travelled around mostly to a lot
of conventions together and to the better restaurants of NY and other
cities that we have visited. I did not observe differences of spending habits.
If people joke about ethnicity, including my own, I don 't care.
I will carry and wave the flag of
political RONGNESS.
What does "afro-engineered thing" mean ?
Is that a denunciation of bad workmanship falling apart ?
David
@Setanta,
No now, I didn't say there wasn't any, just that they were not out in the forefront as much as other cultures.....and yes, like I said, I am very tight with money, so is my sister....and yeah I've heard the grand canyon thing before...but I've only heard it once....twice now...that's what I mean. I don't see being shrewd, or tight, as a negative either.
Comedians tend to make great use of sterotypes, and I'm sure perpetuate them in doing so...ethnic jokes, or self mockery is what many careers were built on...I've heard a million Jewish jokes from Jewish comedians, Italian jokes, NY City ethcic jokes, Boston ...Philly....Foxworthy with the redneck stuff....Garrison Keillor with the Minn area stuff...and of course Richard Pryor and Chris Rock....lots of Canadian jokesters out there, as well as Latinos.
Scottish comedians....Norm MacDonald, and he doesn't dwell on being Scottish, I can remember once where he talked about his father being a tight wad....Billy, but he is usually going on about deeper subjects....I guess the guy that does late night works being Scottish into his bits quite often...and Mike Meyers does a pretty good job at funnin the Scotts. Not that I've heard every single joke or riff by these guys....but what stands out in my mind, is a lot of their material revolves around drinking, or the funny things they did while drinking.

that leftists go out of their way to advocate the opposite of good.
