@Debra Law,
They didn't complain when their taxes were higher under Bush, because they can't figure out what they're doing. It goes against their robotic brains. .

Obama has repeated more than umteem times that 95% of workers will be getting a tax cut. They just can't register that simple message, and cry against higher taxes. Go figure.

@cicerone imposter,
How can it be true for 95% of workers to get an income tax cut, when almost 50% do not now pay any income tax?

Applicable Year .. Income brackets .. First bracket .. Top bracket .. Source

2001 5 brackets 15% 39.1% IRS BUSH 43
2002 6 brackets 10% 38.6% IRS
2003-2007 6 brackets 10% 35% IRS
2007-2008 6 brackets 10% 35% IRS

@ican711nm,
They will probably get rebates. LOL That gets your crawl, doesn't it?

Where do you get the idea that most don't pay income taxes?

Here's the tax table for 2008: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040tt.pdf

@cicerone imposter,
You also seem to conveniently forget that under Bush, most middle class and the poor did not see their wages increase - and did not keep up with inflation. Under those circumstances, less and less people will pay income taxes.

Amazing how that works, isn't it?

@cicerone imposter,
In addition to not seeing their wages increase under Bush, the standard deduction was increased that resulted in less taxable income.

Personal Exemption (from the IRS):

The amount of the personal exemption (for a taxpayer and spouse) and of the dependency exemption (for a taxpayer's dependants) is:
2007: $3,400
2006: $3,300
2005: $3,200
2004: $3,100
2003: $3,050
2002: $3,000

Anecdotal evidence, but evidence nevertheless that the grass roots was interested and those who of us who had to work instead of attending a tea party were hungry for the news of the events. They were scorned and ridiculed by CNN and barely touched on by anybody else.

The results?

I have a request.

All of the liberals and other left leaning people on here that seem so hot to raise taxes, why dont you raise them on yourself?

I havent seen any of you offer to pay 100% of your income and assets to the govt as taxes.
Why havent you?

You do that and leave my wallet alone!

HUH? most?

Net taxable income depends on gross income minus deductions, exemptions, discounts, rebates, etc. Consequently, almost 50% of income earners do not have any net taxable income and therefore do not pay any income taxes.

@mysteryman,
Where did you get the idea that liberals want to raise taxes? Are you so stupid you don't understand that "95% of workers will get a tax cut?"

If they don't already pay taxes, than it includes those who have paid taxes in the past. Simple concept. Those making less than $250,000 see a tax cut.

Also do not forget, the unemployment rate in 2009 under Bush rose to less than 8%, but under Obama it has risen to almost 10%. That will of course mean even fewer people will not keep up with inflation and pay less if any income taxes.

You of course will blame the whole thing on Bush. Bush signing Congress's TARP is a big cause of Bush's contribution to the problem. The Democrat majorities in Congress beginning in 2007 refused to address the unsecured mortgage problem encouraged by the two FMs, and that was an even bigger cause. Obama, did not correct Bush's error or even the Democrat controlled Congress's failure to address the problem. Instead Obama in 2009 is making the 2008 problem far worse by greatly exaggerating it in 2009, all the while criticizing what was done or not done under Bush.

Bullshit. Most of these protests were lucky to get 100 people at them. ...

yesterday, the kos had footage, which i saw elsewhere, of neil cavuto and one of his people cooking the number at the rally they were "reporting" from. it was essentially he and the other guy deciding just how many people to say attended. the other chappy stated that "the police aren't telling us how many". then they went back and forth about "how many it looked like" and finally... "uhh, start with 5000. uh, 5 to 10, 000".

okay. he reported. i decided. care to know what my decision about it was ??

also, i just saw geraldo rivera say to sham hammity; " well, sean. the numbers were estimated, and this is a liberal estimate, that attendance was "250,000" nationwide".

then rivera went on to mention to the great one that, "remember those immigration protests a few years ago? there was over 250,000 protesting just in chicago alone. nearly half a million in fact" ( i paraphrased a little, but the numbers and comps are correct.)

c'mon folks. of the many things that those drinking the tea complained about, taxes was the bottom of the list. it was more of an excuse really.

"excuse?!? what do you mean "excuse" dtom ????????".

what i mean is this; it would be real tuff to get permits for a nationwide " get that black ****** outta the white house" rallies.

that's what i mean.

btw. did anyone else, besides deb, pickup on that pussy lookin' twerp with his gatt stuck on his hip?? here, i just stole the code from deb law's post (thanx d. Smile )

5,000? 10,000? Hmmm, not so much.

Quote:
Nearly 1,000 people showed up saying enough is enough. Participants said they are tired of the taxpayer-funded corporate bailouts and added the tea in tea party stands for taxed enough already.

So says the local Fox affiliate, so you know it must be true.

well, they are fair and balanced after all.

Its not altogether what we pay in tax, its how the tax monies are spent. We want more accountability and less waste. No more bailouts of irresponsible firms. Example, when will we have an investigation of Fannie and Freddie, a detailed one?

"Fair and balanced" is what MOST conservatives believe about FOX News.

I can only come to this conclusion from most of the conservative a2k posters; it's not scientific or any polls taken, just my impressions. LOL
