True, the
change is happening and it should be quite fun to watch.

Do you really think that is what is going to happen?

I hope so if the people continue to their better senses. However, we still have a willing and compliant liberal press that will cooperate with the Democrats in demonizing all sensible conservatives on the political scene, to continue to support the radicals on the left. Unfortunately, emotion trumps logic in a high percentage of people, and tjhe emotion of accusing conservatives of hating people, wanting to starve people, kill people, and all of that will resonate, even if it is all total demagoguery and lies as it always has been with leftists. Because leftists want more government and central planning as opposed to individual freedom and responsibility.
@plainoldme,
I 100% agree with you.
I am personally opposed to abortion, not for any religious reasons, but simply because I think its a bad idea.
HOWEVER, I am not going to tell you that you cant have one if you feel its needed.
I will try and convince you not to, I will present other options to you, and I would hope that you will choose to not have an abortion.
But if you did choose to have it, I will not stop you nor will I do anything to prevent it.
To me, that is being pro choice.
@Cycloptichorn,
I wanna weigh in on this one.
When Obama came to Evansville In during the campaign, I attended.
And when Hillary came to Evansville, I also attended her event.
The reason I went was to see for myself what they both had to say.
And in okie's defense, Obama did stutter, stammer, and pause frequently.
He reminded me of a high school student giving his first speech in class.
Hillary on the other hand was polished, professional, and had a smooth delivery.
I dont know if that is because she had more practice, or because Obama was more nervous.
I did notice that by the time the primaries were over, his way of speaking had become more polished.
@parados,
It is not only obvious from the posters on this forum that repubs are less likely to read newspapers . . . they are less likely to read in general.
@okie,
The press is not liberal. However, you are also not a competent judge.
It is obvious that POM not only needs people to read to her, she
then needs them to explain what each and every word means.
@mysteryman,
That is what the pro-choice position is. The right to life people eliminate abortion as a choice.
Some of my students are teenaged mothers who are semi-literate, too young to have developed forebrains themselves, and are supported by the state because they are emancipated minors. They take classes but text the entire time or else cruise the internet. If a young "woman" can not pay attention to a 50-minute class, how can she pay attention to a child?
I'm in favor of good birth control for these kids. They are not able to take care of themselves.

That is being pro choice. That is what those people that are pro choice argue for.
Pro choice has only become a pejorative because those on the other side argue that "pro choice" means forcing abortions on people. I can't think of anyone that wants to do that. Well.. OK.. some did want to do that in the past and they were just as likely to be conservatives.
@plainoldme,
The GOP wants to destroy Planned Parenthood that provides sex education and contraceptives to prevent unwanted birth. Without PP, the birthrates of the poor will escalate, and guess who ends up paying for those births and care of those babies?
The GOP lies are a disease in this country that needs to be wiped out - with truth and facts!
Unfortunately, there are too many conservatives who are stupid, and don't have the brains to think things through on their own.
JESUS AND THE DEMOCRAT
A Republican, in a wheelchair, entered a restaurant one afternoon and asked the waitress for a cup of coffee. The Republican looked across the restaurant and asked, "Is that Jesus sitting over there?" The waitress nodded "yes," so the Republican requested that she give Jesus a cup of coffee, on him. The next patron to come in was a Libertarian, with a hunched back. He shuffled over to a booth, painfully sat down, and asked the waitress for a cup of hot tea. He also glanced across the restaurant and asked, "Is that Jesus, over there?" The waitress nodded, so the Libertarian asked her to give Jesus a cup of hot tea, "My treat." The third patron to come into the restaurant was a Democrat on crutches. He hobbled over to a booth, sat down and hollered, "Hey there honey! How's about gettin' me a cold mug of Miller Light?" He too looked across the restaurant and asked, "Isn't that God's boy over there? The waitress nodded, so the Democrat directed her to give Jesus a cold beer. "On my bill," he said loudly. As Jesus got up to leave, he passed by the Republican, touched him and said, "For your kindness, you are healed." The Republican felt the strength come back into his legs, got up, and danced a jig out the door. Jesus passed by the Libertarian, touched him and said, "For your kindness, you are healed." The Libertarian felt his back straightening up and he raised his hands, praised the Lord, and did a series of back flips out the door. Then, Jesus walked towards the Democrat, just smiling. The Democrat jumped up and yelled, "Don't touch me ... I'm collecting disability."
@okie,

What does that mean?

Studies of the conservative and liberal brain do indicate that emotions trump logic in conservatives. If you don't believe that, reread your own posts.
@plainoldme,
okie wouldn't understand what he wrote; he's always confused as to what he has said, and wants us to prove he said them.
@cicerone imposter,
I just chuckled. He is confused. He has this set of mantras that he chants over and over: common sense, george soros (as if he matters), eisenhower, hitler-was-a-leftist and a few others. Beyond that little script he created or adapted, there is no content. If he drew waves or curlicues or stick figures across the page, the meaning would be the same.

Do you really believe your posts are any different?
And why do parochial schools cost less? Could it possibly be that they have a captive labor force of teachers who may get all of $1000 a year(I am not making that up. It is not a typo. One thousand dollars). The question is, why haven't the nuns revolted and deposed the pope and the bishops. In any other situation, That would be akin to slave labor. That's far less than the sweatshop workers in the maquiladoras in Mexico make.

@MontereyJack,
Actually there are few nuns left. The parochial schools have a paid non union staff who are more dedicated to their jobs than are theit counterparts in the heavily bureaucratized public schools. They respond to the needs of families who pay for their services or they go out of business.
@MontereyJack,
hey MJack - check out the date on that article (1961)
Interesting OGeorge - up here the Catholic school board teachers are even better organized than the public board teachers. They've got a great union, get awesome benefits and don't mind striking at all.
@ehBeth,
Interesting. Must be a fairly tolerant and non discriminating set of buyers for their services up there. Even here in California we don't have such things. How do you grow such saps who tolerate it?
@georgeob1,
Beth addressed you in a neutral tone and told you some simple facts. You answered her derisively. What is surprising is that after touting Catholic schools, you described the people of her city who feel the same as you as "saps." Which way is it? Are Canadians saps for paying their teachers well or do you feel that those who chose to teach in Catholic schools should do it for the love of God, wear sack cloth and live on bread and water.
