@mysteryman,
And some of those who adopted the hippie style were just the same old wastrels that are around now, were around in the earlier 20th C, the 19th C, the 18th and back in time.

I have a long drive home from my teaching job, 70 miles in all. I would like to say that beggars can't be choosers in this economy but that statement would not, strictly speaking, be true. A more accurate statement is that older women can't be choosers in any economy. I have worked on behalf of older women since I earned my second master's degree in 1998.

But, that is not the point of this post. After a long trip on the turnpike, it is necessary to exit to an interstate then to a state numbered road. This last leg is nicknamed "the mountain road" because it skims the foot of what passes for a mountain in Massachusetts. The road is narrow, winding and steep. It is often closed during the winter.

Traffic was heavier than usual last night. I could see a flashing yellow light ahead, so I assumed there was an accident. As I moved closer to the site, I realized this was not a tow truck's top light but a lighted sign. A notice that road repairs were imminent? A rock slide? A forest fire warning?

No. A pick up truck with the sign mounted on it had been parked in the fire road off the pavement. The sign advertised the local Tea Totalitarian candidates.

How stupid! Tie up traffic and create a potential

Leftist liberals seek to secure their right to steal wealth others earn.

Rightist liberals seek to secure their right to retain wealth they earn.

It's only because he has problem with comprehension of the English language. Somebody needs to interpret articles for him to the fifth grade level, but, maybe, that's an insult to fifth graders.

Good news for conservatives and the country overall: Given the takeover of the House this coming January The Daily Caller informs us the GOP will wittle down Obama Czars' power.
The relevant congressional oversight committees have not exercised close oversight over the czars and other administration regulatory efforts during the last two years, but [Rep.] Upton (R-Michigan) plans to change that in January by regularly subpoenaing administration officials.

Quote:
“We need to go line by line, page by page through the line items they happen to fund,” Upton said. “For a lot of these programs, I’m not sure they were authorized [by Congress], so how is it we are spending money for them?

“We are going to be focusing like a laser beam on overreaching by the regulators.”

"The presidents’ czars need to justify why they were appointed and why they continue to have jobs that frequently overlap work done by previously existing government officials", Upton said.

Further, Eric Cantor, Minority Whip of the House, has addressed one of the shortfalls of the Republicans' Pledge (as I pointed out in my criticism of the GOP's Pledge) regarding Congressional 'earmarks' on the Politico web site
Quote:
That is why the next Republican Conference should immediately move to eliminate earmarks. Should Republicans be elected as the majority party, I believe that we should extend the moratorium to the entire House – to Democrats and Republicans alike. And I encourage President Barack Obama and the White House to take a similar step.

Additionally, Sen. DeMint ,quoted in the Washington Times, has said that:
Quote:
[he] will force a vote in the Senate GOP conference to ban earmarks next year. [and that he] believe[s] this will pass, and Republicans will be unified against the wasteful and corrupt earmark system

@talk72000,
The whole irony of conservatives is their principle belief in tax cuts that's been in effect since GW Bush's first term that resulted in loss of jobs, and continues on until today. They want more tax cuts for the wealthy to transfer the national debt onto our children, while the fat cats of wall street play with their mansions and yachts.

You gotta love being the rich and famous as a member of the elite who has the support of a whole party machine in this country that doesn't want them to pay their fair share of on-going costs of running our governments. Those same elite make up less than five percent (some estimates put it at 2%) of our population, but some 35% of conservatives advocate for their wealth to continue its expansion into the nether world. They prefer that our growing debt get paid by our children and grandchildren.

The majority of Americans are irrational on both our politics and religion. Some time between 2000 and now, common sense and logic has been replaced by greed and the support of greed. Even the poorest and middle class of conservatives believe in more tax cuts for the wealthy while they support wars and enjoy the social benefits granted by our governments.

They call it a transfer of wealth from the rich to the poor - which is correct, because we're letting the rich get richer, and transferring the debt to our children.

Logic, anyone?

This is basically him saying, 'If you like the way we wasted Taxpayer dollars on frivolous investigations in the 90's, you'll love what we do in 2011!'

Re: earmarks, you're insane if you think that the Republican party is going to handcuff themselves when it comes to the ability to dole out Pork. And even if they do, you know that they'll just try and find another way to do it without you bunch noticing.

@JamesMorrison,
That's a contradiction: Anything that is good news for the conservatives is bad news for the nation overall. The most destructive thing this country has ever brought forth has been the conservative movement, a parasite eating us alive from within.
