@plainoldme,
How?
I hold no position of power anywhere.
And if someone on here thinks they are being bullied by me, all they have to do is put me on ignore.
You need to be more specific and explain how I am bullying people.

I don't think this is true, Pom. And it's not good to generalize this way.

I guess you could accurately say that the modern Conservative ethos seems to support raping the land around us and robbing the rest of us in the name of 'tax cuts for the rich.' But it's still a stretch.

Leftist liberals seek to secure their right to steal wealth others earn.

Rightist liberals seek to secure their right to retain wealth they earn.

@ican711nm,
There may not be any rich people left after all the health insurance rates skyrocket next year, ican. But thats probably what Obama wants and planned anyway, on his way to single payer health care. Then the sky's the limit on government waste and corruption. Did you see the scam that was being run on Medicare, all the people arrested in New York and elsewhere? Minor problem, they were only trying to scam 163 million. Chump change. Obama will create a fertile environment for more and more of those minor scams that will happen with more and bigger government to tell us all what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.

@Cycloptichorn,
I have not read all of the bill, so all I have heard so far are reports that rates are going to increase. It is obvious, cyclops, that unintended consequences will occur, that should be easily known but I guess is beyond the liberal mind to grasp.

Was listening to a talk show today, and a man called in and said he had a long talk with his insurance company or agent, and that his premiums are going up radically next year by thousands over the years time. He said he had Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which is the company I also have, so I am tentatively expecting also to receive notice here soon of something similar. I have no reason to doubt the man, as he sounded reasonable and honest, and likely he was telling the truth.

As I have posted before, you will hear from one highly indignant citizen of this country if Obamacare is responsible for raising insurance rates to the point of putting my insurance company either out of business or me unable to afford it. I have worked hard all of my life to afford and pay for very good health care insurance for my family and me, which is the responsible thing to do as a citizen of this great and free country. At least it used to be, but things are beginning to change rather swiftly, that is the feeling I get, and I do not like the feeling that I get in regard to the direction we are going.

Reports from who? Fox News and Rush Limbaugh?

But, you don't know what those consequences are going to be.

Like I thought, you get your 'news' from Conservative talk radio. And then wonder why we don't accept your viewpoints as valid...

But why are they going up, exactly? Anthem Blue Cross is about to have a massive influx of new, young, healthy customers. That's the other half of the coin for the insurers; they get a larger base to spread their costs over, a guaranteed base in many ways.

So, we have some dude on the radio, who said he had a conversation with his insurance agent who said that rates could be going up, in the future. Hardly sounds like proof to me.

I also wonder how you explain the fact that rates rose by an average of around 10% for the last decade - yet all of a sudden, if rates continue to rise, it is Obama's fault?

What's different about that, from now? I'm already hearing from one 'highly indignant citizen of this country.' You're already pissed and sounding off about it, and it hasn't even happened yet!

@Cycloptichorn,
I will keep you posted on my insurance if I am reminded about it. We had a recent increase, but not huge. I look for more big changes in the future because of Obamacare.

All the reasons and how this plays out in the future, I can't tell you exactly, we will all have to learn as it progresses. I do not look for any good things to come out of this at all. I predict it will be a mild to serious disaster, I am not sure where in that range the ultimate result will be. I can only hope the Republicans are serious about wiping this whole disaster off the map when they can do it and Obama is hopefully no longer president to veto it.

@okie,
okie, You love to use words that exaggerate everything such as "disaster" without explaining what these impending disasters are. Your fear-mongering gets old, because you don't have any idea what you are talking about. You don't provide the details that are necessary to explain what you describe as "disaster."

Are you a child with a mind of a six year old, or are you a mature adult that can explain what you really mean?

@cicerone imposter,
ci, there you go with your name calling and childish belittling of others. I shouldn't have to set you straight again with the following. It is not intended to sound like bragging, it isn't, and it is much like a huge proportion of other Americans. I get the impression that you are a decent older American that has been responsible throughout your life, so why do you feel it is your right to sit there and belittle others that have also been responsible, sensible, and reasonable citizens of this country?

I grew up on a farm, worked during the summers enough to pay my entire costs for a 4 year college degree. Then I worked for a major corporation for more than 15 years with responsible positions. I served honorably in the military, including Vietnam. I have now owned my own business for more than 25 years, and have paid my taxes every year, most years around $20,000 or more. I am married to my first wife now for almost 40 years, and have successfully raised 2 children, and we are now grandparents. I don't have much to complain about at all, this is a great country, and I am extremely grateful to be an American. I have never drawn unemployment, nor have I ever committed any crime above speeding or something like that, and have never spent a day in jail. My house is paid for, as are all of my vehicles and all of my other belongings. I have never gone bankrupt, nor do I think I have cheated any of my customers in business. I am not wealthy, in fact I started with nothing, but my family and I are comfortable enough to enjoy a good life.

I believe I have not only earned the right to express my opinion, but I also believe that my life experience, education, and accomplishments qualify my opinions to be not only valid, but sensible and reasonable. I have observed politics first hand since I was a small boy in the early 50's. My parents were FDR Democrats, and in fact they voted for Adlai Stevenson instead of Eisenhower. However, they were not greatly disappointed with Eisenhower, but they admired him. My Dad served in the Pacific in World War II, with honor. So did some of my other relatives serve in that war. I am proudly American and I will make no apologies for any of my opinions here. I believe them to be reasonable and common sense. But the Democrats have soured me as well as they did my parents. As Reagan said, he did not leave the party as much as the party left him. My life experience has proven to me that the Democrats do not care a whit about individuals and our freedom, they instead care more about their power, especially now.

@okie,
I can only respond to what you post on a2k. That your personal life may have been successful has no bearing on how you come across on a2k.

When you post on a2k, be prepared to be challenged with questions when your post lacks evidence or explanations for what you say.

From my observations of your writings, I can say with confidence that your memory is not too good, and you end up lying about me. I have repeated often that I am an Independent, and will vote for the candidate that I believe is best for our country. And yet, you continue to label me as a liberal.

You can't even remember what I have recently posted on pork by the republicans and democrats. That was not a personal opinion, I posted from a reliable media source.

I have also asked you questions in the past that you have ignored.

What am I supposed to believe what you say or claim without your explanations for them?

That just isn't true and you may know that. It is the liberals that always wanted to raise educational standards . . . the real liberals (not the hangers on and those in it for style's sake) who opposed degrees in education.

Liberals join book clubs, see films, have interesting conversations. Conservatives are harebrained women like sarah palin (dumb) and the sad christine o'donnell (dumber).

H2O Man is a good nom d'email for you. You are something of a drip.

No one gives a tinker's damn that you were brought up on a farm. It is not a virtue, particularly since you in no way resemble the farmers who live all around me who have their heads screwed on the right way. You would probably hate them, particularly the ones who practice milk sharing and organic grazing.

While you do have the right to express your opinion, it is for no other reason than that you exist. You exhibit no signs of having been educated as you show no interest in anything other than politics and you ridicule life beyond work and expressing conservative opinions. You neither write well nor show evidence of reading beyond the sixth grade level.

What have you accomplished? Running a business? Tinkers did that in the Middle Ages.

So what if you have been married for 40 years? Do you want a medal?

You might be a Tea Party member if:
You think Iraq attacked the U.S. on 9-11.
You believe in Manifest Destiny.
You don’t know what Manifest Destiny is.
You think the world will come to an end if gay marriage is legalized.
You think the world is going to come to an end anyway, because the U.S. passed national health care legislation.
You think business will regulate itself for the benefit of the working man or woman.
You think President Obama is a Kenyan-born socialist.
You don’t know the difference between socialism and fascism.
You believe there is glory in war.
You oppose both abortion and sex education.
You oppose family planning initiatives that would prevent abortions, because they support contraception.
You are shocked when Bible-thumping politicians are caught in their mistresses’ beds.
You are shocked when right-wing preachers are caught in their boyfriends’ beds.
You think Sarah Palin is intelligent.
You are a member of the NRA.
FOX News is your only source of information.
You think torturing political prisoners is acceptable for the U.S., but are enraged if the same treatment happens to U.S. soldiers.
You think global warning is a fantasy created by Al Gore.
You think Dick Cheney is a true patriot.
You think George Bush was a great president.
You think all Muslims are terrorists.
You believe that the four-times married Rush Limbaugh represents family values.
You ever offered your doctor a chicken in exchange for medical treatment.

I was Salutatorian of my 8th grade class, and I was I think 3rd in my senior class of high school. I had a scholarship in college, and graduated with something over a 3 point average, and that was when a 4.0 was perfect and you could get no higher. I also graduated with a minor in math, and I can tell you no dummies could pass those classes of calculus, analytical geometry, etc.

My posts are based upon reason and common sense, not ridicule of others as you seem to have a habit of doing.

Those accomplishments are not unusual, nor do I claim I deserve a medal, but I would suggest to you to try running a business for 25 years, and I think Obama could be well served to do the same, instead of being president after some cheap political community organizing in Chicago. I am even looking at some info now that Obama's law license is not active, nor is Michelle's, as hers has apparently been revoked. If they cannot even practice law successfully, they should not be in the Whitehouse.

I repeat what I said during the campaign, "Who is Obama?" Do you know? Does anyone know? He is no economic expert, I can tell you that much. And it appears he is not even successful at law.

@okie,
okie, How many presidents do you know that ran a business and was successful as our president? How many presidents didn't run any business and were successful?

GW Bush ran several businesses into the ground; he was also a failure as our president. BTW, he was a conservative (or Republican).

You claim to have common sense, but you don't show it in any way by your posts.
