I'll bet Jes has Big Papi!

Not bad? That's an awesome first 5.
Okay, the first thing I notice is I have 4 1Bs. Anybody need a 1B?
Oh ... luckily 3 of them also play OF.
So it took about an hour and a half to get it done. There were, I think, more people here live than will admit to it. By the end we were probably picking randomly.
I am going to invite my team over for a cook-out tomorrow, and then I will toss some of them overboard.
I couldn't make the chat thing work either, Tico.
I finally figured I could type in the little white space underneath the chat window.
When I let the 'puter fill the last couple of positions, it went OF-mad.
I'm going to have to study the results (as best I can).
Hmmm. So George was there, rjb was there... and I suspect José was there too!
Problems with the little chat button? Humbug!
Tico played silent... and then he NEEDED to tell a joke.
Okay ... first eyebrow raising moment of the draft:
Carlos Guillén, Round 2.
First eye-opening moment of the draft:
Scott Rolen, Round 3.
I like my team, even if it's not irrationally fast, and a couple of batters are strike-a-lots.
C: Russell Martin and Kenji Johjima
1b: Adrián González
2b: Brandon Phillips
ss: Michael Young
3b: Miguel Cabrera
OF: Curtis Grandenson, Jason Bay, Delmon Young
Util: Raúl Ibañez, Jeff Kent
SP: Aaron Harang, Kelvim Escobar, Oliver Pérez, Tom Gorzelanny and Greg Maddux
Middle relievers: Carlos Mármol, Jonathan Broxton
Closers: J.J. Putz, Rafael Soriano, Joakim Soria
Love my infield. Could have gotten better SP, but then, after the first few obvious picks, the rest of the pitchers are often unpredictable.
I'm happy overall with my team. I picked for versatility, and a blend of speed and power.
C: Geovany Soto
C: J.R. Towles
1b: Derrek Lee (or Swisher, Berkman, Butler)
2b: Chone Figgins (or Y. Escobar)
ss: Hanley Ramírez (or Y. Escobar)
3b: Ryan Braun (or C. Figgins, Y. Escobar)
OF: Nick Swisher, Lance Berkman, Hunter Pence (or C. Figgins, C. Hart, B. Butler, J. Upton)
Util: Cory Hart (or Yunel Escobar, Billy Butler, Juston Upton)
SP: Brett Myers, Francisco Liriano, John Maine, Jeff Francis, Derek Lowe, Matt Garza.
Middle relievers:
Closers: Billy Wagner, Eric Gagne, Chad Cordero.
Pitching is not my strong suit, I don't think. May not win the Holds category all year, from the look of it at this point.
Hmmm, I've got ten pitchers, 1 SS and 1 1B. I picked for more versatility but didn't get those.. But I rather like what I did get of the ones I chose and a few that yahoo says good things about in the preseason that I didn't choose..... have a whole bunch of others to look up and cogitate about.
Pomegranate and pear roasted soybeans??
10 pitchers is very good, osso. I myself got 11.
Besides, you've got the best pitching staff on the league.
10 pitchers is good? I've only got 7...
I spent the morning looking at stats (who, me?) and trying to figure out how this thing works. I nominate myself for tweedle-dum. I went for speed and quality pitching <shrug>
Still wish I knew how the scoring works...

Pretty simple. In week #1, you face the Rednecks. If my guys score more runs then your guys, I get a point. If your guys hit more homeruns than my guys, you get a point. Across it goes through the 18 or so categories JPinMilw has set up. One point either way, or a tie. Whomever has the most points at the end of the rows wins the week.
I couldn't be present for the draft, but, I'm quite pleased with the high percent of my draft picks the computer selected for me.
This is truly a blast.
Your Bay Herons, Alex, have a pretty tough first week. Fbaezer, from Mexico City, actually knows something about baseball.
He claims to be the champion here for three years running. We don't argue with him about that. Rather we suggest that his nurse give him him two of the blue pills and one of the green ones and we will see him in the morning.

Ah... heads up against one team each week and then even scores across the categories. methinks you're in trouble in week one, rjb
By the way, you will note that next to a player's name is a yellow thingee or a yellow /red thingee. The former means that there is some news about that player; the latter indicates more recent news. Keep an eye on those updates.
