Well, I'll take Paris and the airmiles and you can have the mud, Roberta. A-slippin' and a-slidin'...

Wish you all could come on up here.

I was told the other day not to go into the Dry Shack unless I had a "member" because it was a "members only" club - Laughing I feel like I'm a Venus and they're a bunch of Martians

Very Happy

Could use a girl to laugh with once in a while - glad you're all here.

Well, best go see to dinner.

Mame, Dys told me about your thread and the time has flown by as I've read each post.

What a woman you are! This is the best thread I remember reading in years. It's a little like a modern Jack London.

If you ever want to come to Albuquerque, you have and open invitation. And if you miss snow, there is plenty to be found in the mountainous north, at least in the winter.

Someone asked if you keep a journal. Your life would make a good book--no living in style in Provence (which would be wonderful), but real, oldfashioned roughing it and facing problems most of us have only read about.

Wow.!

Hey Mame, I haven't seen real mud in decades. I'm sure I wouldn't want to deal with it on a regular basis, but I like the look and remember the slip-slidin'.

Can always use a girl to laugh with. I hope you get to the Big Apple as you gallavant around.

And I think el Presidente will be here then, too. He asked me if I had a passport. Wonder why he wanted to know that? Does he have a project somewhere exotic, maybe? Ohhh, I hope so! (rubs hands with glee)

This smells like a pay rise to me.

Wait, wait, wait...

He fell a tree cause it was interfering with internet reception?

Out of a forest of tree's, he knew which one?

And, back in the room where they hang their wet muddy clothes... Am I the only one seeing a boot (leg?) Shocked in the jeans on the far right?

(I'm pulling for Paris for ya, Mame! Ahh, Pareeee)

Easy peasy. its the dominant (tallest fattest) tree in the sightline.

Diane - thank you! Really, this is not so unusual, but I'm glad you're enjoying this along with me.

Roberta - NY is definitely on my list of places to get to and I will certainly look you up - maybe even cook you a cheap tasty meal Smile

Dadpad - it's all a mystery - I wrote him back: "Yes to the Passport - Where're we going?!" and he wrote back: "You're a hoot. I think I'll wait and tell you when I see you Wednesday." So who knows? I'll let you know when I find out.

Chai - Doesn't everybody have a tomato pincushion? lol Love your new avatar.

Squinney: about the tree - I know! The communications company who set up the satellite service pinpointed that tree. Poor thing. Yes, cutting it down all in the name of technolocy. tsk tsk I don't know about that boot leg - I try not to go too near that shack - first of all, as we all know, I don't have a 'member', so I can't join their stupid "members only" club lol and secondly, it stinks!

Francis - Paris! but only in the springtime, right? I think I could stand another look at the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay. I had a great lapin meal when I was there that I still dream about.

FM - The new guy, Rob, just came back from a job in Argentina - lots and lots of work there. I have a friend whose company is working in Patagonia - he's the one who told me all about indium.

Well, the day shift have finished breakie and I have to get the sausages and waffles going for the night crew coming in...plus the guys in camp, so... ciao for now.

ehBeth: any idea who your friend's bros are working for/with, or where exactly or what they're looking for? I'd be interested to know.

Right. Like the communications company couldn't have put the antenna at the top of the tree, instead of cutting it down.

Diane, yes, he's still here and fated to be here until the end. He replaced the crack addict (slander). He's a little better because I've been asking "Did you get enough to eat?" at the end of every single meal Laughing

Roger - it's a forest Very Happy the antennae would be blocked by the other trees, perhaps

Okay, so I'm thinking the passport question was so I could go to New York in June (Hello Roberta!!) to do a conference with them. He asked me if I did trade shows (yes, I do), so that's probably what it is. The next one is in Canada, for which no passport is req'd, so... that's my guess...

Oh my gosh! I would so love to meet you in New York, with Roberta! I can tell you that Boidy is well worth the trip. Better than the Met, except for the Rodin section from which I was nearly asked to exit. They disapprove of fondling the sculptures. But I digress.

Good luck wherever it is.

....and Mame is a real treat to meet. She's truly a no frills, funny woman
with a lot of spunk and charme. What you see is what you get with her.

Mame you should give cooking lessons after you're finished with the
camp. I am sure people would love to come to learn cooking from you.
Heck, I'd love an online course here...

Diane - I would truly love to meet you, too. If his passport deal isn't about that, I would still like to do that trip... We three (and Kicky and whoever else is out that way) can par-tay! Bring the Dys, kicking and screaming if you have to... or maybe I will be able to visit you all in Albaturkey in May.

CJ - you are too nice. Waaay too nice. And about the cooking - hon, I cannot even serve the food I want. These are plain Jane (no offense heh heh) meat & potatoes guys - turned up their nose at my scrumptious Veal Marsala, they did! Buncha cretins! And you know what they say, if you don't use it, you lose it - all I'll be good for at the end of this year is potato everything Smile

I'm not looking forward to Wed when 4 or 5 more arrive. Hope they're fun, though. I've decided to just IGNORE the PIG and have fun anyway. Mathias and Mike arrived back and blessed their evil little hearts, they brought me about 15 books - EACH!!. God love 'em. Some Diana Gabaldon (that should be interesting), Terry Pratchett, and a whole bunch of others.

And I heard the Boss is coming tomorrow - huh! So I will have more info about the whole passport issue, but I'm acrossin' my fingers that it's New York, New York!!! How fun would that be??

Right now I'm drinking a glass of Chardonnay (that came out of a box, for shame! - no corkscrew in sight) that I had frozen in the snow Smile Delish!
