I've donated $10-$25 to Obama's campaign several times, and it's very easy.

I'll make it easy if you want send me donations.

What's the motive? How many people do it?

Why don't you back Mr O at the bookies? I remember him being 6 to 1.

It's unheard of here and I have experience of working for candidates of both parties due to leaning on bars with the wrong class of persons. Things are borrowed so to speak. No money. Invitations to banquets arrive in time afterwards. Win or lose.

Speaking for myself, I think Obama would be a good president. I want to help that happen. I know that my little $10 or $25 contributions don't do that much in and of themselves, but if a whole bunch of people are doing it at the same level, then you have a really well-funded candidate who is less beholden to special interests than usual.

A whole lot. Last figure I saw for Obama was 477,000 + (individual donors). More than that now I'm sure.

Not my thing.

I think our system is screwy in many, many ways but this is one thing I actually like, and that the internet seems to really be positively affecting. I think there are many good things about candidates being funded by many, many individuals who each contribute small amounts.

Thanks soz. They never answer my questions on the Science forum.

But doesn't the contribution enable the candidate to buy more and better mirrors and smoke machines?

They broke 510,000 on Wednesday. And that's not total, that's since Jan. 1st.

They've taken the counter down now, just like they took the dollar amount raised counter down. I've read that they are on track to make more then 45 million this month.

!!!!

McCain cannot compete with this.

Barack Obama's campaign raised more money in the month of January than any campaign has ever raised in history.

Yep!

Meanwhile, Change to Win (a group of unions) has endorsed Obama, and the chair said:

Quote:
We do think it is time to bring this nomination process to a close," said Anna Burger, chair of Change to Win, an umbrella group that represents seven unions with 6 million members.

Burger made the comment during a conference call with reporters to announce the group's endorsement for Obama.

"There is certainly a movement blowing here," she said, adding that it may be time for Clinton to "recognize" that Obama is benefiting from that desire for change.

"Every time there is a primary, he surges forward," Burger said. "It looks like he is going to be the nominee...We are hoping to get to that point sooner than later."

I should have said "...than any campaign has ever raised in a month in history."
