Quote:Updated, 5:28 p.m. | The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment in Manhattan inhabited by the actress Mary-Kate Olsen, according to the New York City police. Signs pointed to a suicide, police sources said. Mr. Ledger was 28.
At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building, at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of the bedroom Mr. Ledger was in. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger naked and unconscious on a bed, with pills scattered around his body. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.
The police said they did not suspect foul play. Officials said they believed Ms. Olsen, 21, was in California and said it was not clear how long or why Mr. Ledger had been in her apartment.
I just heard this on the radio.
I am extremely surprised. He had great talent.
I too was just going to rant about how the media is taking this and running with it.
But, thats what they do best..
Okay. Now I'm reading that the apartment did NOT belong to Mary-Kate Olsen after all. Sounds like a mere street rumor made it all the way to press. What happened to checking the facts?

His body isnt even completely cold yet.
The only real fact is that he is dead.
And that he was a bad actor.
Completely shocked by this news. How terribly sad.
I'm thinking it was probably an accidental overdose. But yeah, it's sad when something like this happens to anyone, but especially someone who's only 28, and seems to have a bright future ahead of them.
One's pain is not always worn on their sleeve.
We have no clue what kind of life he lived, or what kind of life he came from.
It could be suicide.
Just because you make a lot of money does not mean you SHOULD be happy no matter what..
Horribly disappointed and I feel stupid that I'm sad, but I am.
<checking dead pool list>

28 years old is way too young, no matter who it might be.
On the bright side, Jerry Falwell is also dead, so, you know, we'll be spared his explanation that God, who hates "The Gay," is punishing Ledger for Brokeback Mountain.
Wait, ****, I forgot about Pat Robertson.
Come on God, can't you fit Robertson in today?
NPR just reported that some pills were found near his corpse.
Last month or so I saw this small Aussie film he had done in 2006, Candy, about a couple of smack addicts. I thought, wow, he's doing a pretty good Aussie accent. NPR stated that he was Aussie. I had no idea. What he does well is an American accent.

Yeah, that's my reaction too.
Sad, then second-guessing why I'm so sad, but still sad.
I guess just the fact of any 28-year-old dying is going to be sad.
and anyone dying in the public eye like this.
I can not imagine how his family feels, how they are going to have to deal with the media frenzy and the claimed photos of his dead body.
This will be a circus and the ones to pay are his family and friends.
It's the "I know that guy"/ celebrity thing = stupidity for me.
LOVED a lot of his work...and yeah, the age...
