Very difficult indeed. I can only come up with two maybe's, anyone who can confirm them, can list them:
I seem to remember that the British airbornes who took the Pegasus bridge in The Longest Day (1962) had a piper who wore a kilt.
In The Year of Living Dangerously (1982), a British stiff-upper-lip diplomat plays the bagpipes "to raise morale" during the military coup in Indonesia, but I cannot remember if he wore a kilt in that scene (I was focusing more on Sigourney than on the knobbly knees of the old geezer).

Sorry, Paaskynen. I saw both movies but don't remember kilts in either one.

Found one!

Didn't Hugh Grant wear one in The Lair of the White Worm (1988)?

That's so funny, Roberta, because this morning I was trying to remember the Road picture in which Hope and Crosby performed in kilts.

I remember Peter Lawford playing the pipes, but I don't remember whether he wore a kilt, in "The Longest Day". I don't think the regiment wore kilts. I didn't see "The Lair of the White Worm" and don't remember the scene from "The Year of Living Dangerously".

I do remember "The Hasty Heart", a tearjerker in which a dying soldier, played by Richard Todd, dressed in a kilt that Yank (Ronald Reagan) and the other soldiers in the hospital gave him for his birthday.

Another maybe; the character of John Brown is also portrayed in Scottish dress in The Mudlark (1950), but I cannot say positively that he wears a kilt in the film.

I can't answer about "Mudlark", Paaskeynen. I saw it a long time ago, but I don't remember.

Roberta: Just two more. I'd like to get 20 for "kilt". I know we can do it. All those movies where the bagpipers came to the rescue during a battle scene. Surely some of those regiments were wearing kilts. Doesn't anyone here watch TCM? Laughing

Anyone remember whether the regiment that came to the rescue in "Gunga Din" were seen in kilts?

I'm pretty certain there was one kilt wearer in "Master of Ballantree" with Error Flynn. I'll see what I can find.

Does anyone who saw "The Last King of Scotland" remember whether Forest Whitaker,as Idi Amin, wore a kilt in the movie?

"MORAY kiltmaker Ann Higgins has a number of celebrity customers worldwide but none have ever come close to the massive waistline of African dictator Idi Amin.

Amin had yet to seize power in Uganda when his bizarre request for a kilt was placed with Glasgow firm R. J. Lawrie in the late 1960s.

Weighty challenge - Ann Higgins had a job on her hands making a kilt for the sizeable Idi Amin. NS"

Bravo Mac. Very Happy

Well, we've hit the 20 mark. I'll post the "L" topic tomorrow. It's going to be an easy one. However, I really enjoyed the "kilt" posts and pictures. Very Happy
