But that definition would exclude Psycho, and how could you have a list of movies about insanity that didn't include Psycho? (Dibs on Psycho, if we go with insanity as a topic.)

Bree, At the end of Psycho, the psychiatrist reveals his conversation with Mrs. Bates. I think talk with the shrink would count. In any event, you got dibs. I have a few other nut cases in mind.

I can't remember - does he hitch a ride with Neil Young? That might be after he comes back from heaven. Gee, it's only been 20 years since I've seen it - you'd think I could remember it better! Rolling Eyes Maybe I'll rent it and find out, but not before we've moved on to Insanity Treatments (?).

39. Neitoperho (1997, The Collector), runaway girl hitchhikes

One more hitchhiking film to go... Did we already decide what "I" will be? How about "island" (specified, for example as a "desert island", or a film in which insularity is a strong topic, i.e. the island is not just back drop, but it being an island is of importance to the plot. I love islands Very Happy)

Found it:

40. Sur un arbre perché (1971, Perched on a Tree), Louis de Funès picks up two hitchhikers before driving into a ravine and ending up on top of a tree. The film is as funny as the plot is ridiculous.

Hallelujah and thanks, Paaskynen. We are finished with the hitchhikers. So what's it gonna be, Raggedy. Insanity? Idols? Idiots? Infants. Insects. I'm ready--for some of the above.

Good morning.
I had one for No. 40, Paaskynen, but you beat me to it. I was going to use "Starman" - the scene in which Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen flag a truck down and hop in the back while trying to escape. I like your choice better.

I love islands, too, but "insanity" better suits my frame of mind today. Laughing Islands will be in the next round if we have one.

I = Insanity, insane asylum, - psychiatric treatment

With good reason: the Bram Stoker novel is set, in part, in an insane asylum. I think even Nosferatu contained a scene in an asylum, although I'm not sure of this. Of course, the creepiest insane, bug-eating Renfield is still the original -- Dwight Frye -- in the 1931 version of Dracula.
