Did you know that today would have been Mildred Natwick's birthday? I posted her picture today on Letty's WA2K thread. Very Happy

Here's a character actress that was nominated 6 times, but never got an Oscar:

a. nurse to a voyeur

b. wardrobe woman to an actress

c. landlady who coaches a young woman in the art of divorce procedures, i.e. what to say to the Judge.

What's the third movie? I figure (a) is Rear Window and (b) is All About Eve, but I'm stumped on (c).

(Hi, max!)

Hint for the third film:

It was the final fully-completed movie for two of Hollywood's screen legends.

And the year the film premiered, the screenwriter's marriage to the leading lady had ended.

"The Misfits" is correct. Ironically, in the movie Thelma Ritter helped coach Marilyn Monroe in divorce proceedings techniques.

From IMDb:

The Misfits was originally written as a short story by Arthur Miller while awaiting his divorce in Reno prior to marrying Marilyn Monroe.

Bored while waiting for Marilyn Monroe to turn up on the set, Clark Gable opted to do his own stunts, which included being dragged by a truck traveling at 30 mph.

On the last day of filming, Clark Gable said, "Christ, I'm glad this picture's finished. She [Monroe] damn near gave me a heart attack." The next day, Gable suffered a massive heart attack; he died 11 days later.

Do you have a question, Max?

Ummmm. This "British Dame" always impressed me. In one film she played a maid whose devotion to her mistress lead her into madness. In another film she put on one of the thickest Southern accents to play a wife to a dying husband & spoiled bratty children.

This wonderful actress played a overbearing Mama with very squeaky shoes in a sixties musical. In another film she & her friends leave Earth. She should (my opinion)have won the Oscar for work as a pitiful wife grieving over her husband who brought a bomb on a plane.
And she was priceless as the wife of Hilter's poolman. Very Happy
