Hey, the posts are flying so thick and fast this morning, we're all crossing each other!

I'm off to lunch now, but look forward to finding a new "song" question when I come back.

New question:

Songs from movie musicals:

1. Cary Grant ( one word in title) + Angie Dickinson (one word in title)
(Movie was adapted from a magazine article - later went to Broadway)

2. John Wayne (one word in title) + Ryan O'Neal (one word in title)
(A movie musical; a non-musical movie, a play) -
This song may have been asked before. Clue sounds familiar. (lol)

3. Mark Moses (Title)
(Movie and Broadway)

4. Bebe Daniels (Title)
(Movie and Broadway)

Oh, and I found a ninth.

Lila Kedrova won an Oscar for Zorba the Greek in 1964, and a Tony for the same role in Zorba in 1984.

It just occurred to me that maybe the newscaster who mentioned this didn't count Lila Kedrova because Zorba (the stage version) was a musical adaptaion of Zorba the Greek (the movie), and therefore they weren't technically the same show, even though she played the same character in both. (Can you tell I'm (a) a lawyer, and (b) bored at work?)

Now to work on Raggedy's question.

1. Night and Day (Cary Grant) + A Fever in the Blood (Angie Dickinson)
(from Saturday Night Fever -- never would have gotten this without your helpful description of the source of the movie)

2. True Grit (John Wayne - it helped that you had mentioned this on the book title thread earlier today!) + Love Story (Ryan O'Neal) (from High Society/The Philadelphia Story)

3. Just in Time (Mark Moses) (from Bells Are Ringing)

4. 42nd Street (Bebe Daniels) (from - what else - 42nd Street)

Oh, that's funny. I hadn't thought of 42nd Street. I had another song in mind. Want to take another guess? Yes, to the other ones.

I thought "42nd Street" was a little too obvious for your subtle self, but the list of Bebe Daniels's movies was so daunting, I just jumped on the first song title I recognized!

Same theme - songs featured in movie musicals:

2. Kathryn Grayson (one word in title )- ( think we had this one before - I've lost track) + Robert Wagner (two words in title)

3. Same movie:

a. June Frazee (title)

b. Robert DeNiro (one word in title) + Austin Pendleton (two words in title)

4. Dane Clark (two words in title) + Miranda Richardson (one word in title)

And not even one clue requested. Smile

Might I also suspect that you're freezing in the office, but dreading to brave the oppressive heat outside - and wondering if you'll make it home before it rains?

You're partly right: I'm freezing in the office, and dreading to brave the oppressive heat outside, but I'm not worrying about making it home before it rains, because the forecast doesn't call for rain here until tomorrow. Let's hope they're right, and that we don't have a repeat of Monday, when a torrential downpour started precisely at 5 p.m.

I'm having trouble with #2, so I will have to request a clue for that one. Here's what I've got for the others:

1. Too Late the Hero (Michael Caine) + Now, Voyager (Bette Davis) (from Royal Wedding)

3. from Love Me or Leave Me:

a. Ten Cents a Dance (June Frazee)

b. Mean Streets (Robert DeNiro) + Talk to Me (Austin Pendleton)

4. I Won't Play (Dane Clark) + Dance with a Stranger (Miranda Richardson) (from Roberta)

Yes to all so far.

Hint for No. 2:

The movie has the same title as the Broadway musical it is based upon which was written by a composer whose birthday is today. The musical is an adaptation of a very famous play. Smile

I had no idea it was Cole Porter's birthday today! Why didn't Google do something for him on their home page, as they did for Frank Lloyd Wright yesterday?

So This is Love (Kathryn Grayson) + In Love and War (Robert Wagner) (from Kiss Me, Kate)

Off to my piano lesson now -- still no sign of rain here.
