Just have to tell you that Andrea Marcovicci's "Just Kern" CD arrived this A.M. There are five songs I've never heard before: Can I Forget You; "In the Heart of the Dark"; --"Once There Were Two of Us" and "Now That We are One" (duets with Michael Feinstein) and "Raggedy Ann". Very Happy

Wondering if the Marcovicci fans have this one.

I've got it, and I love it! I haven't played it in a while, though (funny how CDs go in and out of favor on my play list). I'll have to dig it out of the bottom of the stack, and listen to it again.

Sad news about Anne Bancroft. One of my co-workers heard a TV newscaster say last night that Ms. Bancroft was one of eight actors to win both a Tony and an Oscar for the same role (in her case, of course, she won for her roles as Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker). My co-worker was able to think of four of the others, but we're stuck on the final three. Any guesses?

I'm always surprised at what I missed the first time when I dig some CDs or cassette tapes out of the stack. I just listened to some old cassettes - "Wildcat" with Lucille Ball (I had forgotten that "Hey Look Me Over" was from that show) and a few songs from "The Rothschilds", and "Shenandoah (the Jimmy Stewart movie). (quite likable).

I've got a few songs from movie musicals to ask when it's convenient for you. Very Happy

That was fast! You're right about Yul and Rex -- those are two of the names we had on our list.

Oooh, Jose Ferrer for Cyrano deBergerac. I just listened to him on a tape in Noel Coward's "The Girl Who Came to Supper" with Florence Henderson.

And, Joel Grey (Cabaret)?

Patty Duke won a Theatre World award and an Oscar for playing Helen Keller, but wasn't even nominated for a Tony for it.

Thank you, all! The ones we were missing were Paul Scofield, Joel Grey, and Jack Albertson. Amazingly, Patty Duke did not win a Tony for The Miracle Worker. And Liza Minnelli, who won an Oscar for Cabaret, wasn't in the Broadway production.

Barbra Streisand was nominated for a Tony in 1964 for Funny Girl, but was beat by Carol Channing in Hello Dolly. She won an Oscar for Funny Girl (Hello gawgeous!) in 1969.

Of course, she got Carol back by playing Dolly in the movie in 1969.

Yeah, we had Barbra Streisand on our list at first, only to realize she didn't qualify for the reasons mac just explained.

mac, I have to ask -- did you research this, or did you know it off the top of your head?

I researched the list of eight, but I knew the Barbra/Carol story. I did check my dates before posting. Very Happy

Oh, and I found a ninth.

Lila Kedrova won an Oscar for Zorba the Greek in 1964, and a Tony for the same role in Zorba in 1984.

Thinking of "Hello Dolly" -
"Hello Dolly" won 10 Tonys, a record that remained unbroken until what show topped it ?

Aha! Maybe the newscaster meant to say that there were eight in addition to Anne Bancroft.
