That it is sad news about Charlotte Dambois, Bree.
Did you see the article "How Broadway Lost Its Voice to 'American Idol'"?

10 plays, Mac? In New York? Some day when you have some extra time Laughing tell us what they were.

(I just asked a question on your new thread, Mac, but I should have phrased it to read: Does that mean if you pass the test, that it is a certainty you will be on the program?")

That's funny, Raggedy -- I almost posted that article on "How Broadway Lost Its Voice to 'American Idol'" on this thread! I thought it was an excellent explanation of what's wrong with Broadway musicals these days.

I thought you would agree, Bree. (lol)

While Mac is thinking about your test question on the jeopardy thread, here's one to think about:

A movie title,or a word from a movie title, for each of these actors will give you a twosome of notoriety.

Barbara Stanwyck and Brendan Fraser

Jane Russell and Joe E. Brown

Gene Tierney and Nigel Hawthorne

Rachel Griffith (one letter missing) and Joel McCrea

James Whitmore and Jean Simmons

The Strange Love of Martha Ivers and George of the Jungle

The Revolt of Mamie Stover and Alibi Ike

Laura and The Madness of King George

Hilary and Jackie and Buffalo Bill

Give 'em Hell, Harry! and Young Bess

Did you see the interesting piece of trivia for Give 'em Hell, Harry! on imdb?

Do you mean: "One of only two films for which every member of the cast was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar (the other was Sleuth (1972)?."

That would be a good trivia question, wouldn't it? The above would be a good punctuation question, too. (lol)

That's what I meant. And you get an A in punctuation, too!

The only reason I was able to answer that question as quickly as I did was that "George and Martha" came to me fairly quickly, and after that the rest fell into place (well, to be perfectly truthful, they fell into place after I dismissed the idea that you were going for couples in plays, and that "George and Martha" referred to the couple in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf"). I liked the order in which you placed the two "George" movies, by the way.

I like this new format, but I don't have a question ready in it right now. Maybe one will occur to me while I'm walking around at lunch.

New question: I subscribe to the theory that all of the following actors are very well-read in a variety of subjects. If you connect them with a word from a movie title each, you'll see what I mean.

Rock Hudson (the last letter is missing) and Rod Steiger

Kevin Spacey and Maureen O'Sullivan

Clive Brook and Robert Downey Jr.

Charlie Chaplin and Spencer Tracy

I'm so glad you got this before I left the office, because I'm going to be glued to the TV tonight, watching women's college basketball (go, Rutgers!).

Yes to them all, except I was thinking of Maureen O'Sullivan, not Maureen O'Hara (I always get them confused, too!). Maureen O'S. was in a movie called "Wild Heritage", so the magazine I was going for was American Heritage.

Oh, and I never even thought of Modern Woman -- Modern Bride was all I had in mind for that one!

Oh, it was Maureen O'Sullivan I researched. I typed Maureen O'Hara's name instead. (lol)

Hope your team wins.

I just read the sad news about the baskeball game last night.

I hope Bree is not too:

Alfre Woodard (3 words from title ) -- Jerry Lewis (one word from title )

and that she didn't:

Adrien Brody (one word from title ) her John Candy (one word from title )

and

Jane Powell (two words from title ) -- James Cagney (one word from title )

(I hope she understands that I'm her friend and if she cares to unload her sorrow, she can always Morgan Freeman )

Thanks -- you're definitely one of the (two words from an Alec Guinness title)!

Now to distract myself from my basketball woes by working on your question...

I hope Bree is not too:

Down in the Delta (woodard) The Big Mouth (Lewis)

and that she didn't:

Nothing to Lose (Brody) her Cool Runnings (Candy)

and

Hit the Deck (Powell) Ceiling Zero (Cagney)

(I hope she understands that I'm her friend and if she cares to unload her sorrow, she can always Lean on Me (Freeman))

Just in time for another lunchtime walk (it's beautiful here today, for a change), which I hope will stimulate my brain to think of a new question.
