They have been advertising "Easter Parade" on TCM between features. If it's not "I'm Just a Fella, a Fellow with an Umbrella , it's "Easter Parade" and both songs are driving me, together with Mel Blanc, Buggsy.

I don't have a question right now. Will you be working tomorrow?

Unfortunately, I will be working tomorrow. I'm hoping they'll let us go early, but hope is fading fast, as there hasn't been any kind of announcement yet.

Yes, I know that routine. They'll keep you in suspense all morning. And if your work place is anything like mine, there will be a whole lot of grumbling going on. Although, it did finally pay off. In 1985, our N.Y. headquarters declared it an "official day-off". (lol)

It never ceases to amaze me that management doesn't understand that, when they don't allow employees to leave early in situations like this, more time is lost in grumbling than would be lost if they just let everyone leave early. But I'm obviously not cut out for management (and I say that with pride).

A word(s) in a movie title (not the name of a city therein or the name of the state) which may be used when referring to:

1. John Malkovich - New York

2. Dick Foran (twice) - Illinois

3. Ava Gardner - Texas

4. Jeannette MacDonald - California

5. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello - Pennsylvania

Clever!

1. Empire of the Sun - New York

2. Prairie Thunder and Moonlight on the Prairie - Illinois (I confess, I had to google "state nicknames" to find out what Illinois's nickname was; all I could think of was "Land of Lincoln", which I think is on the Illinois license plate)

3. Lone Star - Texas

4. The Girl of the Golden West - California

5. Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Cops - Pennsylvania

I've been enjoying the new twists of our game here. Someday soon my life will settle down a little and I'm going to have time again. (Though probably not at work. The backlog of papers to be processed is just piling up around my ears!)

I'm heading for Baton Rouge to see my mom early Friday thru Sunday evening. And I decided to take off Monday from work too because I knew that going right back to work would be too hard!

Happy Easter all! I'll stick my nose in here over the weekend if I can get the public access computer in Mom's lobby to cooperate.

Have a great weekend, mac!

There's an interesting article in today's New York Times about Charlotte d'Amboise and Sweet Charity. The article is too long to paste in here, so I'll just post a link to it for anyone who wants to read it:

Mac: In case you do stick your nose in here over the weekend, have a great time -- and --- tell your Mom it's time for her to get a computer. Very Happy

Bree: Thanks for the suspenseful link. After the second "more about that later", I skipped to the end of the article. You know, from several posts here, how much I like Charlotte's dad, so it's only natural that I would love to see her open in N.Y. and succeed. However, it sounds to me like she could use a good rest right now. What a harrowing ordeal!

I'm trying to remember whether Mac and Loislane, when they were discussing staging and the problems with lamposts, mentioned the Christine Applegate incident. Or is that NCS again?

Yes to the states question, Bree. Some of the cowboy stars had four or five Prairie movies and a couple had three of the answers, but since none had all 5, I decided to list them separately.

Have you got one ready?

mac's and loislane's references to lamppost problems were made in response to my posting of a story about the Christina Applegate incident, so no NCS was involved there.

I don't have a question ready at the moment. My morning so far has consisted of several e-mail interchanges with people in our CD-ROM production department who want me to look at a test CD and determine if it contains all of the "expected test content", but who are unable to tell me what the "expected test content" is. (Just a scary little glimpse into my working life...)

YIKES! But it's so "scary", it's funny. Sorry, Bree.
I do hope your employer will let you all go home early today. I'll come back in a few minutes to tell you what happened when our boss refused to let us leave early one Good Friday. If the contents of the test are not what you expected, you might like to take a break.

When the boss refused to let us have the afternoon off one Good Friday, everybody was miserable, but the situation was nothing compared to what occurred at one of our branch offices in Missouri.

The

1. Richard Egan

was unbearable.

At first, a

2. Lloyd Bridges

was heard.

Next, an outburst of

3. Mala Powers

By midafternoon, the staff was

4. Scott Glenn

In order to gain control of the office, the Boss had to send for

5. Richard Cromwell

yes, but Young Mr. Lincoln wasn't mature enough to control that staff. Navy's not a bad idea, though.

My choice was "Outrage" for Mala Powers. Aaah, I could have used her twice. (lol)

Well, the "test CD" issue has been resolved, after a fashion: it turns out the disc was never supposed to be sent to me for review in the first place, it was supposed to be sent to someone else.

Forgive me if I sound cranky, but I'm tired of having my time wasted by people who can be described with one word (or, in one case, the whole title) from the title of a movie for each of these performers:

Dean Martin

Jeff Daniels

Norma Shearer

Vivien Leigh

Sounds like a "sitcom" or, do I dare say, Government job.

Kiss Me Stupid - Dean Martin

Dumb and Dumber - Jeff Daniels

Idiot's Delight - Norma Shearer

Ship of Fools - Vivien Leigh

Neither a sitcom (although it often resembles one) nor a Government job: just corporate America.

Yes to all my cranky titles.

Just a couple more hours, Bree. Smile. Very Happy

Connect the actors listed below with a word/s in one of their movies (a different movie for each) (in some instances, a single word title) and I think you'll agree they make a good match/connection. (no puns intended)

Judy Garland and Jack Nicholson

Richard Gere and Raymond Massey

Susan Hayward and Shirley Jones

Gary Cooper and William Holden

Edited to add: It's the same theme for all of the pairs.

Oh, I just noticed your edit, which means (I think) that I have to go back to the drawing board. I was coming back to ask if this question is like the "before and after" category on Jeopardy. On the assumption that it was, I came up with:

The Evening Star is Born (for Nicholson and Garland)

and

Boum sur Paris When It Sizzles (for Cooper and Holden)

but I couldn't find anything for the other two pairs.

I was going to ask if I'm on the right track with what I've found so far, but your edit makes me think I'm not.
