Cross Creek is right (both the movie itself and the number of words). Malcolm McDowell played Maxwell Perkins (listed in the credits as "Max" Perkins), who is probably best known for having been Fitzgerald's and Hemingway's editor.

Over to you.

Yes, I remember Max Perkins now. McDowell had a very small role in the movie - toward the end of the picture if I recall correctly. I'll have to watch that one again. I remember Rip Torn and Peter Coyote and all that coffee spiked with gin. Laughing

(I'm watching a very very young Angela Lansbury sweetly singing Goodbye Yellow Bird right now. Picture of Dorian Gray)

Thinking ...

I've got a couple of fictional fashion photographers in mind, but can't find all four roles for either of them.

I think we're all probably more familiar with the movie star and robber roles, though.

Aaah, Astaire's a good guess, but not the right one. You've got to give me two more guesses for a clue, though. Gotta follow the rules, you know. Laughing

Ouch. I was hanging up my clothes and dropped the darn hanger on my toe. Oh, yes, you deserve a clue.

The psychiatrist role is in a remake of a movie in which this star also co-starred, but not as a psychiatrist.

hmm. That's confusing isn't it. I'll reword it (after I pick up the hanger). OK. This star was in both the original and the remake of a movie, but did not play a psychiatrist in the original.

Right on. Faye Dunaway. Here's what Ebert said about Dunaway in Eyes of Laura Mars:

Faye Dunaway, as Laura Mars, is not a great screamer, but she's a very good one. She's also well-cast as a controversial fashion photographer, who likes to shoot beautiful women against a backdrop of flaming auto crashes. The women, dressed in spike heels, black mesh stockings and red underwear, attack each other with their fingernails and pull each other's hair. They also wear expensive fur coats. Photos like this, it's said, sell coats like crazy. I shouldn't be surprised. Some people will do anything for a sable.
Laughing

Your go.

Naturally, Fred Astaire was one of the fashion photographers I thought of right away. The other fashion photographer I thought of was Stephen Rea in Pret a Porter -- he came to mind because I thought maybe sneaky Raggedy was using a Robert Altman tie-in to The Company, in the previous question.

Now to ponder loislane's question.

Kate Beckinsale played an art restorer in "Uncovered" and a peasant in "Van Helsing". Am I on the right track? Does paint restorer mean "art restorer"?

Another stretch would be the army camp director of nursing she played in "Pearl Harbor".

Oohhh, nice try wandeljw, but alas no. But I guess 3 guess earns you a clue...hmmm. Oh, and yes, it's art restoration but in old haunts...

The camp director will no doubt be looking for a new profession after the show!
