OK. I gottcha. But, you could have meant someone who was playing a comic strip character like in Roger Rabbit or Last Action Hero, or something like that. Laughing Laughing

Walter Mathau?

baseball coach - The Bad News Bears
lawyer - Fortune Cookie
pirate - The Pirates
Comic strip character - Dennis the Menace

It's not your fault I'm slow on the draw, Wandl or that I take the comic strips too seriously. Laughing Laughing

Yodellaydehoo, Bree. It's your turn. Or shall we continue?

When I hear "movie" and "insurance salesman" in the same sentence, there's one movie that leaps straight to mind, and it's this one:

Fred MacMurray

Professor - The Absent Minded Professor and Son of Flubber
Business Executive - The Apartment
Real-life WWII war hero - Captain Eddie (as Rickenbacker)
Insurance salesman - Double Indemnity

Nice picture. Excellent answer. Now you owe us two questions. (lol)

I think Jack Lemmon was an accountant and we know MacLaine was the elevator operator in The Apartment, but what did MacMurray do, except borrow the apartment and the elevator operator?

Isn't that pretty much all bosses do?

My debt to you is going to have to get even deeper, because I'm about to log off for tonight, and I probably won't have time to post a new question tomorrow, because I expect to have a busy first-day-back-at-the-office-after-vacation, what with reading all the useless e-mail messages that arrived while I was out, chatting with my co-workers about how their holidays were, etc. (you know, all the things people do in offices instead of working). So please continue without me if you feel like it.

Fortunately, I know you're a forgiving crowd (at least, I think I know that)!

Our power went out just as I was forgiving you, Bree. This is the second outage this evening. I just lost the program I was timer-recording. Grrrrr. Good thing it's not a cold night.

See you all tomorrow, I hope.

Good Morning. Would you believe, while I was posting here, the power went out again for 2 minutes - So I had to reprogram my DVD for a movie I want at 3PM and, of course, reset all clocks and TV channels, etc. I'm leaving for an appointment at 1PM, but hope to be home by 4PM. I didn't get "Oklahoma" the other day. But, TCM will be showing all Oscar movies in February so I imagine I'll be able to replenish my VHS tape collection, I hope.

But, I see your challenging question and will think about it while I'm gone. Very Happy

Good morning. Check out this thread for an interview with Harvey Fierstein about playing Tevye...

I'm thinking about your question too, bree, but I haven't had any luck with these lately.

I'm feeling generous, so I'll offer a bunch of clues:

I probably should have said "real-life future U.S. president", because the character wasn't yet president when the movie I'm thinking of took place.

One of the movies is a remake of a movie that was used in a recent question in this game. However, the actor I'm thinking of played a different character in the remake from the character played by the actor who was the answer in the previous question. (I hope that's clear).

One of the movies is based on a classic novel.

Two of the movies have the names of cities in their titles, and the title of another movie is a geographic location.

hmmm. Well it wouldn't be Lolita because Langella and Sellers played the same character. It might be Cape Fear. But, the real-life U.S. President? Well, I'm back to the drawing board.
