Bingo! Good movie (but, as my scene suggests, a bit on the grim side).

I never saw the movie, but did read the novel. As it's been over 25 years, I'm not surprised that the details are lost. Rolling Eyes Question coming up...

A young couple is driving down a dark, lonely road. Several motorcycles go by, heading in the opposite direction.

I'm clueless, but I'll guess:

Rebel Without a Cause
The Wild Ones
Easy Rider

Oldie, newbie, or inbetweener?

In-betweener

not Rebel Without a Cause
not The Wild Ones
not Easy Rider

They just got engaged.

Splendor in the Grass
She-Devils on Wheels (yes, it's a real movie -- it's listed on imdb!)

That should be enough to get me another hint.

Clue 1: They just got engaged.
Clue 2: Their car has a flat, and they walk in the rain to a big castle they had seen.

I've got to finish up some stuff at work this afternoon, and then I'm going out this evening, so I'll start a new scene tomorrow morning. Willow, if you (or anyone else) wants to start a new one before then, be my guest!

I'll be your guest, Bree, but, of course, I expect a favor in return. If you saw a movie or play last evening, you must tell us about it - right here. Very Happy

Oldie - before 1960
Inbetweener - 1960 thru 1980
Newbie - 1981 to present

Inbetweener:

She's not too pleased when her boss orders her to buy a scarf for his wife. She's even less pleased, when she sees a secretary coming out of the boss's office later with the scarf draped around her neck.
