I never saw the movie, but did read the novel. As it's been over 25 years, I'm not surprised that the details are lost. Rolling Eyes Question coming up...

She's not too pleased when her boss orders her to buy a scarf for his wife. She's even less pleased, when she sees a secretary coming out of the boss's office later with the scarf draped around her neck.
