@spendius,
Quote:
Standing on the waters casting your bread
While the eyes of the idol with the iron head are glowing.
Distant ships sailing into the mist,
You were born with a snake in both of your fists while a hurricane was blowing.
Freedom just around the corner for you
But with the truth so far off, what good will it do?

@spendius,
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread,
Both of their futures, so full of dread, you don’t show one.
Shedding off one more layer of skin, - Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman!

>>>>>But with the *truth* so far off, what good will it do?

Any way *Truth* cannot be served along with your breakfast items.....,
*Truth* can be served only for the foundation of human *Faith.

That which is born of the >yoke is >flesh,
and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit.

Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

Spell check provides interesting asides. "truth is water" could refer to how difficult it is to grasp hold of. But "whatever" you are referring to, it probably wasn't that. Very Happy

Spiritual truth was critical to the topical post in this thread. We are not talking about how many ounces in a pound or quart. We are talking about God's purpose for the earth, among other things.

Did you find fairies in your Bible?

We are only human. Truth to me is a tearing away. We may believe something is true until it is put to the test. If that belief doesn't hold up then we tear away or change what we believe is true. I guess I would say truth involves change. It seems to be a learning process (and different for each person) in order to find that which holds true in all situations and discarding /tearing away those things that don't. If it is the truth it cannot be effected by change.
The bible says of God, if you seek him you will find him. It seems to me to know God's truth is to seek him. Some do, some don't. For those who do, we learn, we make mistakes, we repent and we learn/change to conform to the example of God's love found in Christ's example. Through the scripture we learn the bigger picture of what God has planned for us and also through others testimony of what God has done for them and how he has changed their life. IMHO

@auroreII,
What you are saying reminds me of when you discover something that may be of value, perhaps the glint of a possible coin in the sand. You have to clear things away and examine your find to be sure it is genuine.

@neologist,
Hey Neo - Bob died May 26th, 2011. (smile) I love that he posted here....precious man and missed by many.

I think he may have meant that truth is what one thinks it is. It exists in one's mind.

Visible things are easy. But when it comes to the things that are not seen - it really is what is in your mind. Faith - which is a spark we cannot conjure of our own accord is there or it is not. There is no argument that can make someone believe in your truth unless they have faith.

Where does faith come from is the question to ask. And it can be an offensive question. But it does not have to be, as long as people are not defensive in their pursuit of the truth.

@mismi,
I'm so sorry to hear that. I'd been off the board for a few years. I remembered dys as one who could take a poke with humor and I was hoping to be his gadfly. I suppose that will have to wait forr a Better time. I think you are right, that some folks won't allow themselves to have faith. They fail to understand their position to be based on similar presumptions
