Yo, ladies! Who's up for a Hawaii meet? Very Happy Mai Tais and Pina Coladas coming up!

My sister wants to do a road trip for my 50th next year and we thought of flying into NM and renting a car and visiting some of the fine folk down there. Of course, if I'm working in the Yukon, we might be doing a northern trip Smile But I'd really love to meet some more A2Kers... that SF weekend was fun!

I was in Hawaii last year, so I'm good for another 5 years or so...

If you're going on that road trip, Mame, make sure to over the entire
south. You either can start here and drive towards NM, or do it the
other way around.

CJ, I would love that. It all depends on when and for how long she can get away.

Her birthday is in April and mine is in May, so we'll do it sometime then. I've never been to San Diego so that would be fun.

Did your daughter have fun on Hallowe'en? What did she dress up as?

Well... I gotta tell ya, life is so good.

1. I have made some friends at my little craft market. Went for dinner at Iris' the other night and had a wonderful time. She makes and sells doggie biscuits. She's a young retiree from govt work (yes, she's 60+). She's a BUSY lady. We went to the Duncan Christmas Chaos Craft Market where I bought a bunch of Christmas things. Did I tell you my landlord is 80 and his wife is 70+? I found an old salt and pepper shaker set of an old man in a rocking chair and old lady in a rocking chair - I had to get them for them Smile Plus I bought them some pine cones dipped in candle wax for fire starters (we all have wood stoves here)...

2. Made another friend, Karen, who runs a poultry and egg farm with her husband, Steve. They're in their 40's and are a lot of fun. We may share a table at the Chaos craft market next year.

3. Funny people all around at the market (various vendors). I feel like I've been there for years. It's such a great feeling. One old guy, Kim, (a vendor) always manages to tape a sign to another old guy (visitor) each week... this week it said, "I'm lost. Please send me COD to the nearest Greyhound" Laughing Last week the market was closed because some underaged hooligans trashed the joint (front page news! ha ha )... but the week before, the sign said: "Everyone think's I'm in my 60's but I'm only 42"... (the guy is ancient).

4. Taking my sister, Karen, my son and his g/f to Hawaii in Feb and this afternoon I invited another sister, Sally, who lives here, to come with us. I hope she gets the time off work. Money is only here to be shared and spent and spread around, right? Let's make some memories!!

5. I sold some stuff today -- finally! and cooked up 60 breakfasts and 15 lunches in 3.5 hours. Big day.

6. Only 1.5 days before I leave for Grande Prairie, AB ( I know, you're all jealous!) - I will spend 6 days with my favourite sister, Karen, and her lovely husband, R, and her kids ... We will visit Dawson Creek, Wembley, and other points unknown - ha ha

~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, I seriously would love to know what everyone else is doing. This thread is NOT just about me - seriously, how weird that feels. Please tell me what your day, week, month, Christmas, whatever is looking like... what's going on, what's not going on... Check in once in a while and update us all.
I forgot to look into this thread for a while, and missed your questions,
Mame. My daughter was a Geisha on Halloween. She had an authentic
Kimono on and we dollied her hair up and put some chop sticks in it,
and a giant Hibiscus flower from our bushes. Everyone commented on
her costume, and she made out big time in the candy department. In
fact, the handle of her bucket broke because it was too heavy from all
that candy she shlepped home.
I am glad your doing so well and have made already new friends.
Pretty soon, you feel like you lived there all your life. Having a Hawaii
trip to look forward to ain't that bad either. Go for it girl!!
Update:
Well, today I signed up to volunteer at a Food Bank near me and at a soup kitchen in town, one or two days per week each.
I joined the gym (rec centre) two days ago and plan on working out every morning for an hour, then walking an hour in the afternoon.
Quit smoking again this week, too. sigh. I had quit for 2.5 years then this year started during the whole split up thing. Blech. I hope I'm done with it now. Got a patch on, so that really helps.
Signed up to do my Level III First Aid in January and should be getting the books to study next week.
Had a fabulous visit with my sister and her family in northern Alberta last week. Had a really great massage while I was up there - why don't we do that sort of thing more often?
So that's my news. What's up with you guys?
