Make the bar? Lady, a million dumbass people make it to the bar every night, believe me. The bar is not an exclusive establishment.

At least, not the bars I've been to. But, then, if they had been I wouldn't have been there.

You're calling me lady: not so long ago I had a long post about that, involving how the crew greeted us when we showed up at a site we'd designed (and had purse power on).

Ladies can be lovely, and also diminishing, approximating taunting, as an appellation.. Mostly it's fine, if odd - I'd rather hear my name, close at hand, or just 'hi'.

Oh, it's odd.

But I was just a-saying, ossobuco, that the bar at the bar (wasn't there a thread about man-walks-into-a-bar jokes?) is low, and obviously so. Low, I mean.

Or a Sylvania light bulb, but truth be told I'd rather a smoldering log or a big, long-burning candle. Perhaps under a decanter of B&B. Mmmmmmmm.......

thanks, osso. i had an interesting rl (because on the net, we are not people?) conversation not too long ago with someone a lot more experienced about the topic than i was. in the beginning, i was trying to prove i'd be able to grasp what she was saying. in the end, she decided i was "better read" than she was.

what's this to do with anything? if we had (falsely) assumed even footing from the beginning, it would have been a more meaningful exchange. she knew more than i did, but we wasted all that time deciding who was dominant- pointless.

Once an authority figure makes up their mind that you're leaving somewhere, there's no point fighting.

No point in resisting unjust authority?

I mean, this kid - its not like some major rights issue was at hand (before the violence, anyhow). He was just asking some conspiracy-type thing from John Kerry. Just the one student who's a bit off the wall.

But as a point of principle - accepting that if the authorities decide you leave, or shut up, or come along, or whatever, you should just accept and comply, no matter how unjust their decision is - and if you dont and get hurt, it's just your own damn fault - that can't be right.

I mean yeah, it's convenient, for sure, if you dont want to be hurt - but as a point of principle, "If the authority figures decide you do something, you do it, no matter how unjust" is pretty much your first step to facsism. I mean, the same logic would have had left us without Rosa Parks, or would have justified her being clubbed back into place.

I don't know this students background, and what his experience may have been with police, so I don't know if he knew he would get himself in deeper by squirming a little and protesting the police holding him.

Like osso...I am a law abiding, never been hassled by the police, middle class white woman. I know, I'm one of the priviledged.

If I was feeling strongly about something and emoting in what I consider an very civilized place like a library, I'm not to sure I would have gotten the full import of the police telling me to put a lid on it either.

If I was busy givng my little non threatening rant and the cops told me to be quiet, I very well could have said "Just a minute, I'm not done" just like that guy did. When it got to the point the cops took my arm....well, to be honest, I've never had anyone take, or grab my arm to escort me out of someplace, I probably out of instinct would have pulled away and said, "hey, let go"....after that, if they started converging on me, I could see myself going into a panic, and getting a little, well, hysterical. Not violent, not more like, Hey! Leggo! Leggo of me! Help!....If I got tazered, I would have totally flipped out mentally.

But that's me, I'm not some gung ho activist prepared to take an electrical shock for the cause.

He's not Rosa Parks. He's a self-righteous, whiny little bitch who tried fighting back when officers were trying to arrest him.

This idiot didn't have to keep screaming. If he let them walk him out, he would have been kicked out, and that's it. Because he had to keep screaming, THEN resist arrest, he was tazered. Resisting arrest is illegal.

Not to mention he could have asked Kerry the same questions in a much more civilized manner, instead of rambling like an idiot.

To the right of the video that Parados linked to on the first page, there are comments written by the person that uploaded the video, {you have to hit the blue "more" link}. But here are the comments for that video...could be fake of course {taking credit for someone elses video}, but here they are anyway...

"I couldn't get to my camera in time to record his entrance, but this guy basically comes running in with 4 or 5 cops in tow and says he has been running around trying to get in to ask a question and the cops are going to arrest him for it. they almost do it then but Sen. Kerry says he will answer it. he then answers a previous question someone else asked (i cut that part out because it isn't important to this video) then the guy asks his questions and when he is done all hell breaks lose. to the cop haters: i have no doubt the cops were going exactly by the book, the problem isn't them, its the book! they were doing their job and looked just as confused as this kid (this isn't something that they deal with often)."

------

If he was told the hall was full...or whatever....yet kept making attempts to get in, sure, suspicion is going to arise. Mr. Kerry was the runner up in a presidential race...a strong public figure...lot of nut cases out there.

Just before the "skull and crossbones" comment, the kid said the word "blowjob"...not the worst of words, especially on a college campus...but in most settings this is highly frowned upon, and that alone will get you evicted.
