I have a horrific smoothie that I only drink when I feel shitty—like my poor stomach is fried from my lovely inflammatory digestive freak show.

For your perusal:

1 c chopped romaine lettuce
1/2 c chopped spinach
4 T fresh squeezed lemon (this is a stupid measurement, so I squeeze a damn lemon)
1/2 avocado (if you use Wholly Guacamole, one of those little cups is what I use)
2 t Stevia (leaf-based sweetener, I hate it, but who am I, really?)

This thing isn’t supposed to taste good, and in that respect, no one is complaining.

This stuff is devoid of all the things that stress out our tummy linings. It’s a sweet balm for intestinal linings and your other little innard tubes.

💕

@dlowan,
Yes, I can eat anything and everything. Food is not an issue. Nor is a stomach ache. I don't have one and haven't had one.

@Roberta,
It looks like I'm keeping what's wrong with me a mystery. Not my intention. If you want to know what I've been dealing with, look up c diff on google.

@Roberta,
Yikes.

Not surprising after all the antibiotics you have had to take.

Are they going to treat it via the method suggested by google?

Are you feeling very ill, you poor love?

@dlowan,
I have no idea what method you're talking about. Google has a lot to say on the subject. I've been treated with an antibiotic. No pain. No feeling sick.

When I went into the hospital the first time, I was weak and dehydrated. But not feeling sick. The last time, I was weak but not so dehydrated.

@Roberta,
Boida- When I was 12 years old, I read Dr. Morris Fishbein's "Modern Home Medical Advisor" from cover to cover......acne to zits (isn't that the same thing?). In fact, I found a copy on eBay, and it is sitting proudly in my bookcase.

Anyhow, I watched all the medical shows starting with Dr. Kildare. I am now binge watching "House" on Netflix. I know that I have seen it before, but who remembers, after all these years?

So yes, I do know a lot about c diff. It ain't pretty, and I am glad that you are on the road to recovery.

@Roberta,
well that's not a great dx but a dx is better than a mystery eh
glad they id'd it and that you're getting treated for it

found out that Veselka in the East Village still makes traditional egg creams
now I've got a big reason to come back to NY

my Veselka mug from one of the Fine Cooking mag trips there sits beside me at the computer to remind me. it used to remind me of their insanely good perogies - now it's to remind me I need an egg cream

@Sturgis,
A nice place and in the right part of the city Smile

If/when I'm back in town, I'll be back at the SIHNYC, which means I'll spend most of my time near or south of Union Square.

edit - and yes, their borscht is excellent.

borscht. short rib perogies
love that place

I saw an infectious disease specialist today. He came up with a plan that gives me hope that this horror of an infection will be gone.

In the process of having my vitals checked, I learned that I lost 15 pounds.

You didn't have 15 pounds to lose.

Get better sooner!

@margo,
How are you Boida? Any new treatment started?

I’m on leave for a few days and it’s like Wuthering Heights here! Amazing amounts of rain, black skies, wind moaning around the houses and trees.

Sebastian asked to go out into the courtyard and then came in to glare at me in accusation. It was all wet! How could I have done that to him?!?!

A new treatment has not been started. The treatment I was getting has been continued, which is what I wanted in the first place. I'm starting to feel a bit more normal.

The fifteen pounds are causing some wardrobial difficulties. In other words, my pants are falling down.

@Roberta,
Glad to hear you are happy with your treatment and that you are feeling a little better. I need to hear you kvetching again

Dodi sends her love and wishes for your recovery.

Do you have any belts? To stop the pants falling down?

This could be an emergency! We do not want to see Boida being arrested for indecent exposure!

I can see the headlines: “Highly Intelligent Editor Drops Daks: Claims recent weight loss, not criminal intent, to be the cause.”

Glad you are improving. For myself though, I'd be weirded out of Finnegan to feel normal. (then again, I'm not sure what normal feels like)
