@Butrflynet,
Just caught up with this thread - it disappears periodically - must find a better way of tagging it ... or something! Great news about your surgery, Butrflynet. Very brave of you to go through with something so drastic. I hope the pain isn't too bad, and that you soon heal and get amazingly dramatic results!

Roberta - I do so hope you get things sorted tomorrow. Who'd have guessed something that sounds as simple as a saline solution, could cause so much difficulty? Fingers crossed there is an inexpensive solution (no pun intended) to your problem! Laughing

@vonny,
There may be something wrong with my refrigerator. All my perishables have perished. I adjusted the controls to colder. If that doesn't work, it will have to be repaired/replaced. In the meantime the frozen stuff is frozen but the nonfrozen stuff ain't cold.

I have to replace all that food. Thud (and a few dirty words).

@Roberta,
Oh Roberta! Fate really does have it in for you. What a rotten shame. I hope hope hope with all my heart and soul that you can salvage as much food as possible - get your fridge mended - and that life will start treating you better. Must have been a gut-thuddingly bad feeling when you realised what had happened. I'm so sorry ......... Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad

When I rented in Sacramento same thing happened to my refrigerator, stopped working and I had lost a month of food I'd purchased day before. It was cheaper for the landlord to replace the food and replace the refrigerator with an older one then it would have cost him to pay overtime for an appliance repair person.

@Butrflynet,
Any chance of your landlord being that cheap so it will be of benefit to you?

Had Dr appt this morning, was surprised by how quickly I am recovering. Took few bites of jello and some chicken broth a few minutes ago. So far, so good. Going to try going without the good stuff tomorrow and just use Tylenol.

How's your breathing, Roberta, ready to sing an aria yet?

@Butrflynet,
You do know that the good stuff is safer than tylenol, don't you. At least long term.

@Butrflynet,
Butrfly, I'm glad you're recovering quickly. I like reading good news.

My breathing is eh minus. And I'll never be singing again. The radiation to my throat made singing impossible.

If the repairman can't fix the fridge, I don't want a new one. A new appliance is an addition to the rent. I want a used one that works.

Heading for the asthma doc in the morning. Hoping to hear from a new social worker this week.

I have no idea how I will pay my utilitiy bills. Waiting for the lights to go out.

Not in the best of spirits. (Quel surprise.)

@Roberta,
I hope everything goes well for you when you see the asthma doctor tomorrow morning. I sincerely hope they will do something - anything - about getting you the meds you need to control your condition.

Utility bills - wow, it must be frightening to think you may not be able to pay them. Don't you have any friends or family who might be able to help you out until your health improves and you find more lucrative employment?

Back from Bellevue. Saw the new asthma doc. I like him. I won't go into the mess re my appointment or how long I had to hang around.

He gave me alternate prescriptions for my meds. The new ones should be cheaper. They're also not as good. I guess you get what you pay for--assuming you can pay. I'll check the prices with the pharmacy before I get them filled.

Spent what little was left of the afternoon on the phone with my utility companies. Not the nicest people on the block.

A very dear old friend is sending me some money. Sigh.

I'm in the process of cleaning the kitchen so that when the repair person comes, I won't die of embarrassment. Dying would defeat the whole purpose of getting the damned thing fixed.

@Roberta,
Glad things are a little better for you. Hope you see the nice asthma doctor again - good that you like him. Good also that you have scrips for less expensive meds - pity they aren't as good, but hopefully they'll suffice until your finances pick up?

It's a relief to know that a friend is sending funds to you - phew, I bet that's a huge relief.

The refrigerator repairman just left. My fridge is kaput. The super is getting me another one--used and smaller. Don't care about the size. I just want cold food again. Like milk!

@Roberta,
The new fridge is here. It's as cute as the dickens. The freezer is a little small, but otherwise it's fine.

Waiting to see if it works. Yes, I'm fussy and a pain in the ass. I want it to work. So shoot me.
