@Roberta,
Sorry the jewellery didn't fetch much - sigh - not fair that you are having such a run of bad luck, monetary and healthwise. I hope things improve for you soon. Meantime, what's happening about your arm and your throat? Have you been for X-rays yet?

@vonny,
No, no X-rays yet. I'll try to get to the hospital next week. The throat is just a check-up. But the X-rays are needed badly.

BTW, This isn't "a run" of anything. This is my life. I'd call more than ten years of this stuff not exactly temporary. C'est la vie.

I was supposed to have my breathing test today. Didn't go. I have an upset stomach--a case of the hobbles.

I rescheduled. I have an appointment for something else next week. I'll get my arm X-rayed then. And I'll have the breathing test in two weeks.

All seemed to go well at the hospital - a specialist nurse removed the stitches pretty painlessly, and now all I have to do is wait until 16th July for my follow-up appointment. I panicked a bit yesterday when the nurse couldn't tell me whether the results of my op had proved benign or not, but on reflection, if there was anything seriously wrong, surely they'd let my own doctor know and he'd contact me? No use worrying needlessly!

I can't start massaging the scar for four weeks - they say the scar has to strengthen first. So I'm back on the waiting game again! I guess life's like that! But meantime I have a lot of new friends on A2K to chat to, play games with, and generally 'kvetch' to - it's helped me hugely so far - thanks a lot Roberta, and all concerned. Very grateful to everybody!

Hey Vonny,

I haven't kept up with your post-surgery details as much as I had wanted to. I quickly skimmed your posts from this point forward and didn't see anything from you saying whether or not you finally got the good news from the doctor.

I'm going to assume you did because otherwise you'd be talking more about it if it were bad news.

If you'd rather not talk about any of it, that's fine too. I just want you to know I haven't forgotten and hope you are all healed up now and moving on with more pleasant things in your life.

@Roberta,
I have a case of the hobbles today too, overdid a new exercise yesterday and then on top of that went grocery shopping. I'm hoping my knee is killing me just because of newly overused muscles and tendons and not structural damage.

It sure is hell getting older sometimes.

By the way, in case anyone hasn't told you...you're still breathing. Wink

Regarding your arm, if the x-ray doesn't show anything, perhaps a cortisone shot would help relieve the pain. BBB has those in her shoulder every 3 or 4 years and gets a lot of relief from it. There have been times when my shoulder felt like it would need a cortisone shot, but a heating pad still helps so I'm still going to avoid the shots until it doesn't work anymore.

@Butrflynet,
Hi Butrflynet
I haven't found out anything yet - put my head firmly in the sand for three months! I did ask my doctor last week, when I went for a routine medication review, but he said he hadn't heard from the hospital, but that he thought my wound had healed well. He seemed to be very relaxed about the whole thing - that, in turn, made me feel a little happier about what the end result might be!

I go to see my surgeon on Tuesday the 16th, and hope to get the all-clear then. Obviously I am only guessing, but I'd have thought that if the histology report had thrown up anything malignant, they'd have contacted me before now?

Thank you for being kind enough to enquire about it - I'd presumed that everybody had forgotten about it my now. Fingers crossed all will be fine next week - not long to go now. Sorry to hear you are having some pain and discomfort yourself.

@ossobuco,
I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't a bit apprehensive about next week. I've had to face bad news on this subject before! But the swelling and redness are gradually lessening, and it looks and feels healthy enough. All I can do now is hope ... Thanks osso.

@vonny,
Nope. Not forgotten - just hanging around in the waiting room.

We're good at that.

And we're good at tracking people down if they don't check in.

@vonny,
Certainly if the surgery turned up anything at all to worry about - you would have been contacted pronto.

True! And people have their own lives to get on with, and their own health problems. Didn't want to bore everyone with mine.

But I am grateful to you all - it gives me courage to face next Tuesday. Big day, the 16th of July. F boy has his op, Ms Letty finds out if her hip has healed, I have my follow-up appointment - you'll need your hoper turned up to max, Roberta! Anyway, how are you getting on now - when will you be going back to hospital?

@vonny,
vonny, vonny, vonny. I don't know what I'm gonna do with you. If we're interested in how you are doing, then telling us how you are doing is not boring us. Sigh. (Rolling my eyes.)

I'm still in a quandary as to why it's taking so long for you to get info. No matter. You'll find out next week. My hoper is oiled up for high gear.

I'll be at the hospital on Wednesday to see my psychiatrist. Poor man. I hope he's taking his vitamins. I'll get my arm X-rayed after I see him.

Major money problems. I had to stop taking one of my asthma meds. Couldn't afford to renew the prescription. (Hundreds of dollars) Also worried that my cable and phone service will be shut off. Late with payments.

I suspect that the worrying is creating asthma and stomach difficulties.

The division of the company I've been freelancing for has been sold. Changes are a-coming. No work for a while. Don't know what I'm going to do. Sighing.

You'll let us know how things are going, won't you? NOT bored.

That makes two of us! I was sure my doctor would have had a report from the hospital! Ah well, for better or worse, soon be the 16th.

As for you - hey, Roberta, what am I doing to do with you! Not surprised you have asthma and other health issues with all the anxiety you are suffering. Oh, I do so wish that things would get easier for you. Having so many health problems, and not having the means to pay for treatment must be pretty frightening. I hope the psychiatrist can help you - or at least advise you in some way. Do keep your appointments this time - and let us know how they go. All the luck in the world - I hope things somehow improve for you - soon!

Aaarrrggghhh.....sorry to hear all that Boida.

Could the lack of work mean you qualify for Medicaid again, to help with the drugs at least?

@Roberta,
I'm clear! Huge sighs of relief all round! Yes, my surgeon told me that the tumour they removed turned out to be benign, and that they managed to remove all of it when they operated. There may be further surgery, but it will be cosmetic. The skin flap they used for the graft has healed beautifully - the scar is hidden in the fold of the cheek - but there is a tiny bit of puffiness on the nose itself - and if it is still there in three months time, he will make a few 'adjustments'. Frankly, that will be a bonus - all I wanted to hear was that I was free of cancer now.

I was annoyed by one thing - the results of my surgery had been sent to my doctor - some time ago! I believe my doctor, who said he'd not received them. I guess there's been an admin muddle somewhere!!

Thank you Roberta, and everybody else who has helped and supported me through the past six months - it would have been a lot harder without you all.
